Parce que "xrandr -q" te donne la liste des moniteurs connectés qu'il détecte, et que je n'ai pas vu de moniteur DVI mais bien un moniteur HDMI.
Au final, tu vas avoir 3 écrans simultanément ? Dans ce cas, la somme des pixels horizontaux vaut 3* 1280 = 3840, donc ta section virtual devrait être 3840x1024. Modifies ton xorg.conf et redémarres. Dans l état actuel, avec 2560x1024, tu n as pas défini assez de place horizontalement pour caser tes 3 écrans.

en fait le résultat final que je vise est que lorsque je retourne travailler après une dure periode de cours, je pose mon portable sur sa station d'accueil et mes deux écrans s'allument pour prendre le relai d'affichage à la place de l'écran du portable, donc pour faire simple et claire je vise un affichage bureau étendu sur mes deux écrans externes au portable

Ok. Donc je ne suis pas sûr de voir l'intérêt de modifier en dur ton xorg.conf.
Laisse le "Virtual 2560x1024".
As-tu essayé d'utiliser l'utilitaire ubuntu dans Préférences > Résolution d'écran pour régler tes 2 moniteurs (et désctiver celui de ton portable). Es-tu parvenu à un résultat ?

j'ai un résultat partiel, je m'explique :
Lorsque j'active l'affichage étendu du bureau présent sur le moniteur VGA a l'origine, vers le moniteur DVI en extention, j'avais tout d'abord une perte d'affichage sur le moniteur principal qui a été résolue en modifiant le xorg.conf. A présent, lorsque je redémarre, je conserve mon affichage principal, mais je suis obligé de modifier la vitesse de balayage pour "ré-activer" le moniteur étendu. L'OS lui le considère comme activé, cependant le moniteur ne semble pas de cet avis.
Si j'en suis venu à modifier le xorg.conf c'est que avec xrandr je n'arrivais à rien, et encore moins avec arandr en mode graphique ...

Je suis pas sûr de te suivre. Quels moniteurs sont activés ? (entre celui de ton portable, le VGA et le DVI ?) Ce que tu veux, si j'ai bien compris, c'est éteindre l'écran de ton portable, et activer le VGA et le DVI en mode étendu ?

là tout de suite maintenant, et dans l'ordre d'apparition de gauche à droite :
VGA 1280*1024 60Hz --> DVI 1280*1024 70Hz (avec le petit "trick" que j'ai expliqué plus haut, à savoir le changement de vitesse de balayage pour activer physiquement le moniteur qui était déjà considéré comme activé par Linux)

si, mais le problème qui m'est posé ici c'est que l'affichage de l'écran étendu se désactive après un redémarrage/fermeture de session.

Peut-être que tu pourrais ajouter une section pour le moniteur de ton portable :

Alors j'ai appliqué le xorg que tu m'as donné, mais j'ai perdu l'affichage sur le moniteur DVI, il s'est reporté automatiquement sur le portable, et le moniteur portable est identifié comme le moniteur DVI et non un moniteur de portable.

Bon, je suppose qu'il n'aime pas l'option "Ignore" "true" pour le LVDS.
Si tu l'enlèves... ?

voilà pour le xrandr -q
et donc niveau affichage : lorsque j'ouvre la session, le moniteur VGA s'active, le moniteur du portable s'éteint, et le DVI reste éteint physiquement, mais est considéré comme présent par Linux, je dois modifier la vitesse de balayage pour qu'il s'active physiquement

Ajoute
Modeline "1280x1024_70.00" 128.94 1280 1368 1504 1728 1024 1025 1028 1066 -HSync +Vsync
dans la section Monitor "dvi", et règles le PreferredMode à "1280x1024_70.00".
Ca donne quoi ?

Le moniteur DVI ne démarre toujours pas et si je vais dans les paramètres d'affichage, il est réglé à 60Hz, étrange !
