Mise à jour de 16.04LTS - Erreurs et re-démarrage impossible

Bonjour à Toutes et à Tous,

Je viens de réaliser une mise à jour de mon Ubuntu 16.04 LTS qui n'était plus à jour depuis quelques mois. ( Ordinateur portable Packard Bell )
Lors de cette mise à jour, j'ai constaté un blocage, j'ai été obligé d'éteindre l'ordinateur, car il était bloqué et impossible d'appliquer une commande éventuelle.
Je redémarre, je rentre mon password sur l'écran graphique, il semble démarrer mais reste figé sur mon écran graphique.
J'essaye de rentrer dedans par appel du terminal "Ctrl" + "Alt" +T, mais cela ne fonctionne pas....

Est-ce que je vais devoir ré-installer ?

Bonjour,
Je te prie de faire un Boot-Info depuis une session live(*) de Ubuntu et de donner l'URL de ce Boot-Info dans ta réponse.
Ce serait utile de préciser le nom complet du modèle de l'ordi qui a le problème. On sait que c'est un portable Packard Bell mais c'est un peu court.

(*) session live = ordi démarré sur un support Live de Ubuntu (LiveUSB de préférence ou bien LiveDVD), choix "Essayer Ubuntu sans l'installer"

Lorsque j'appuie sur ces touches ( séparément bien sûr - Je m'y suis repris 2 fois ) je n'obtiens pas le menu GRUB.
Je démarre sur la version du PC qui plante, pas via la clé USB. Correct ?

Oui, il faut déconnecter la LiveUSB afin de démarrer sur le Samsung SSD 840 sur lequel se trouve ton Ubuntu.
C'est bizarre que tu n’arrives pas à voir le menu Grub. Il faut presser avant même le démarrage de l'ordi la touche SHIFT et la maintenir pressée jusqu'à apparition du menu Grub.

Non, cela ne fonctionne pas.
J'appuie sur la touche shift lorsque le PC est éteint, je le met en route et j'arrive directement sur une page vide violette, ensuite un flash blanc, retour sur la page vide violette, ensuite une brève apparition d'une dizaine de lignes ( indiquant probablement les erreurs ) et ensuite, directement sur la page de démarrage qui demande le mot de passe.

Y-a-t-il autre chose que je puisse faire pour éviter une réinstallation ?

Depuis la console, tu peux passer la commande suivante :

sudo apt update 

puis

sudo apt full-upgrade 

Ce sont les commandes de mises à jour. Il est possible que dans le résultat de commande il te soit proposé de passer une commande particulière. Il faudra la passer (précédée par sudo comme dans les commandes ci-dessus)

Je viens d'effectuer les 2 commandes qui ont bien fonctionné, mais lors du reboot, j'obtiens toujours cet écran vide violet après avoir entré mon mot de passe après mon login.

Désolé mais je n'ai pas d'idée à te proposer. Si tu craques parce que tu es pressé, tu peux tenter une réinstallation en suivant la Méthode 1 – Réinstaller tout le système sans toucher au «/home» de la doc "Comment réinstaller Ubuntu ?"
Mais tu perdras probablement des plumes dans l'opération (il est possible que certains logiciels soient virés)

Tu peux utiliser la Méthode 1 que je t'ai conseillée dans mon post précédent pour passer de 16.04 à 18.04.1 en conservant /home.
