Si j'ai bien compris :
- cette partition FAT32 va effectivement servir pour installer grub.
- grub va détecter tout seul qu'il y a aussi un windows d'installé
- grub me le proposera le choix au démarrage SI et seulement si ma séquence de boot dans l'UEFI positionne le SSD en disque n°1. Si à l'inverse je mets mon HDD en position n°1, alors il y aura un boot automatique sur windows comme si c'éait le seul OS d'installé.
- si je comprends toujours bien, un avantage "collatéral" de cette configuration c'est que même si windows va tripatouiller sa partition EFI du HDD, normalement il ne devrait jamais être en mesure de modifier celle du SDD, et donc ne devrait jamais me pourrir mon grub (réinstallation, mise à jour...)

C'est bon pour la partition efi.

Avant de répondre à ta question, précise si tu veux un dual-boot géré par un grub commun à W10 et Ubuntu, ou si tu veux deux disques intégralement indépendants.

Je crois comprendre que tu veux quelque chose entre les deux, à savoir un W10 totalement indépendant, et un Ubuntu qui gère les deux OS. Dis-moi si je me trompe.

Dual boot commun je souhaite éviter, histoire de bien cloisonner les choses.
Après, entre indépendance totale ou un mix je n'ai pas de préférence particulière, ça va surtout dépendre de la "complexité" de la procédure.
Toujours si je comprends bien, dans l'option totale indépendance ce sera à moi de gérer l'ordre de boot par défaut dans l'UEFI et de le modifier le jour où je veux changer d'OS (c'est assez facile avec ce DELL, j'ai la touche F12 qui me permet de choisir ce que je veux uniquement pour le prochain démarrage). Alors que dans la version mixte, 0 modifs d'UEFI car le choix se fera par grub.

Si j'ai bien compris, honnêtement je prends l'option la plus simple à mettre en oeuvre. As tu une suggestion?

Alors, tu as deux options, la première étant la plus sûre.

1. Si tu peux démonter ou débrancher facilement le disque dur (sda), le plus simple et le plus sûr est de le déconnecter pour faire l'installation indépendante sur le disque Nvme. Il te suffira de vérifier que tu bootes bien en uefi avec ton liveCD (c'était le cas pour le dernier boot-info), et tu installes ton Linux dessus tranquillement. Si l'installation fonctionne, tu n'auras qu'à rebrancher le HD, et choisir via F12 si tu veux booter sur "Ubuntu" ou "Windows Boot Manager". Et rien n'empêchera d'ajouter Windows dans le grub via un sudo update-grub.

2. Si débrancher pose problème, tu rencontreras probablement le souci que j'explique ici dans le point I. L'installateur d'Ubuntu ne fait pas toujours ce qu'on veut pour le placement de son grub. Dans le point II de la même page, je donne une solution que j'ai testée pour éviter le souci, mais je ne garantis pas qu'elle fonctionne à tous les coups et il y a peut-être mieux à faire. Geole aura peut-être une meilleure proposition. Lis cette page de près, en tout cas, pour comprendre la difficulté de ce que tu veux faire.

Et tout ceci est conditionné au fait que ton PC ne pose pas de souci d'écriture en NVram, d'installation de grub, etc. Ca fait beaucoup de paramètres qui m'incitent à te diriger vers ma première option.

Malheureusement je n'ai pas l'outillage qu'il faut pour accéder aux disques Ils sont situés sous le capot inférieur qui est fixé avec des vis pentalobes (je crois que c'est ça le nom) mais je n'ai aucun tournevis comme ça (et pas la possibilité de m'en procurer un rapidement).
Ton article est super clair, j'ai bien compris le problème et le workaround que tu proposes. Par contre ça ressemble à un vilain bug quand même!
Je vais attendre que Geole repasse par ici s'il a un autre conseil, sinon je me lancerai demain avec ton tuto sous le coude!

Plus tard, tu pourras modifier pour que le grub ne te propose pas Windows.

Sans méchanceté: j'ai cru comprendre que, probablement, tu vas utiliser windows plus d'une fois par an. Tu viens donc de faire une grosse connerie en mettant windows dans le disque dur au lieu de l'utiliser pour y mettre tes données personnelles en provenance de ubuntu et de windows.
Ajout: Lorsque tu verras que windows est plus lent à mettre en route qu'avant, tu auras compris que les SSD servent d'abord à stocker du logiciel et que les disques durs servent aux données.

C'est bon, je vous écrit depuis linux!

Par contre j'ai du m'y reprendre à 2 fois La 1ère installation j'ai configuré la partition grub en EFI comme ceci: https://polochon.nohost.me/nextcloud/in … Zy4A4zQ3JW
Echec, impossible de démarrer! J'ai donc refait une installation en cochant cette fois "ne pas utiliser la partition" (mais en prenant bien garde de spécifier le chemin de grub dans la section du dessous) et là c'est passé!

@geole: non vraiment, normalement windows je vais l'utiliser 4 fois cette année: 3 fois pour faire tourner un programme développé maison pour une asso dont je suis membre, et une autre fois pour faire la mise à jour annuelle de mon GPS Garmin (je n'aurais donc aucune donnée personnelle sur cette partition).
Le reste, c'est du backup "au cas où" parce que je suis en transition question boulot et que "peut être" je pourrais "éventuellement" avoir besoin de windows. Comme je disais au début du fil, ça fait 15 ans que je n'avais plus de windows personnellement, et là ça fait 3 mois que je j'ai migré mon vieux macintosh sous linux. J'ai donc réussi à vivre 15 ans sans windows, je veux bien me pendre si je l'utilise plus d'une fois par mois! Il est donc très bien sur son HDD, je me garde le SSD complet pour l'OS que j'utiliserai 99,99% du temps.

Bon en tout cas merci vraiment à vous parce que j'ai appris et compris pas mal de choses ces derniers jours, et là j'ai exactement la config que je voulais donc c'est top!!!!
J'avoue que sans votre aide j'aurais vraiment bien galérer, il me manquait beaucoup de notions pour prétendre y arriver seul.

Bonjour.
Le point de montage à indiquer pour une partition efi est /boot/efi
C'est pris en compte depuis la version 19.10 donc probablement 18.04.3 ou 18.04.4?
Sinon c'est le premier rencontré.
Pour les versions anciennes, il faut utiliser boot-repair qui propose le choix en listant les partitions FAT32 disponibles.

Conseil. Il faut éviter d'utiliser une partition FAT32 de 32 GiO ou plus contenant des milliers de fichiers. La recherche par le bios des fichiers bootables pouvant alors durer très longtemps ( 25 minutes )

Quant à la partition efi, on utilise en principe des tailles standards : 100 M pour les disques ayant des secteurs de 512 M, et 260 M pour les disques ayant des secteurs de 4k. Je pense que Nasman saurait expliquer pourquoi...

En pratique, la partition EFI est destinée uniquement à recevoir les fichiers de boot EFI , Elle est formatée en FAT32. Gparted ne sait pas fabriquer à moins de 36 Mio et la valeur minima pour Windows est plus importante, sinon il fabrique du FAT16

N'oubliez pas de régler votre BIOS pour qu'il amorce sur le fichier sda1/efi/.../grub*.efi !

Si votre ordinateur redémarre directement sur Windows, essayez de changer l'ordre de démarrage dans votre BIOS.
Si votre BIOS ne permet pas de changer l'ordre de démarrage, changez l'entrée de démarrage par défaut de l'amorceur Windows.
Par exemple, vous pouvez démarrer Windows, puis saisir la commande suivante dans une invite de commande en mode administrateur :
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\...\grub*.efi

Bonjour
Ce n'est pas grave. La rectification manuelle est facile. Le principe
1) Monter la partition FAT32 du NVME sur /mnt Probablement

sudo mount -v /dev/nvme0n1p1  /mnt

2) Y copier uniquement le répertoire Ubuntu, La commande va ressembler a cela

mkdir -p /mnt/EFI/ubuntu
sudo cp -Rv  /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/* /mnt/EFI/ubuntu

3) Mettre à jour le fichier /etc/fstab avec la bonne valeur du UUID de la partition EFI à récupérer avec la commande

sudo blkid

CORRECTION POUR LE NOM DU DISQUE
4) Rebâtir une entrée dans la NVRAM, cela va ressembler à l'une de ces deux commandes

sudo efibootmgr  --create      --disk     /dev/nvme0n1   --part    1      --label "grub" --loader      "\EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi"
sudo efibootmgr  --create      --disk     /dev/nvme0n1   --part    1      --label "shim" --loader      "\EFI\ubuntu\shimx64.efi"

La première si boot non secure (Le cas actuel), la seconde si boot secure.

Il ne restera qu'à rebooter et vérifier pour voir quelle entrée a été utilisée

sudo efibootmgr -v

A la place de /dev/mmvblk0 je dois mettre l'adresse de ma partition sur SSD? A savoir /dev/nvme0n1p1?

Ça semble remettre en cause la correction du bug dont parle geôle un peu plus haut. Je testerai ça en virtuel ces jours-ci. En outre: le format de partition ne me semble pas bon :

Quant à la réparation, je trouve ma solution (I,2) plus simple, la ligne désactivant 30_os-prober étant d'ailleurs facultative. Tu y trouveras d'ailleurs comment supprimer les fichiers inutiles sur le disque Nvme depuis Linux, mais on peut aussi le faire depuis Windows. C'est au choix.

Désolé pour le nom du disque. J'avais récupéré un copié/collé et fait trop vite....

On voit que tu as bien booté sur le N°5 avec une entrée que tu as fabriquée.

Mais son UUID ne correspond pas à celle du NVME. C'est celle du disque DUR. Donc ne supprime rien.

IL est probable que ce bios ne sache pas booter directement avec un NVME et oblige à stocker dans le disque dur malgré une demande d'écriture explicite dans le nvme
Ce qui expliquerait l'installation initiale surprenante de la structure de boot de windows.

Le plus étrange, c'est que j'ai quand même le fonctionnement "mixte" que je voulais au début à savoir un démarrage sur grub qui me permet de choisir mon OS.
Mais si jamais je force le boot sur le HDD, je bypase grub et ça démarre tout seul sous windows.

Je viens de voir cette ligne.
Je pense que ton bios peut la présenter pour booter probablement comme il présente windows, Tu peux aussi la mettre prioritaire avec cette commande

sudo efibootmgr  -o  1A,7,5,1

Je voulais dire que si tu appliques la procédure qui te permet de selectionner Windows dans le disque dur, il est fort probable que tu puisses visualiser le contenu du NVME et y découvrir le SHIM de Ubuntu.

Sinon, en faisant la commande proposée, il se mettra prioritaire.

Après avoir vérifié que tu bootes bien sur la ligne 0001A avec la commande

sudo efibootmgr -v  | grep BootCurrent

tu pourras alors supprimer le répertoire ubuntu de la partition de boot du disque dur car

D'autre part, il est possible de demander au grub de ne pas proposer Windows https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/tutoriel/grub … age_manuel

sudo chmod -x /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober
sudo update-grub

De diminuer la durée d'affichage pour la passer à 2 secondes au lieu de 10 en modifiant la ligne suivante

GRUB_TIMEOUT=10

du fichier /etc/default/grub puis prise en compte avec la commande

sudo update-grub

Il est aussi possible de demander qu'il ne s'affiche pas. Mais cela devient alors compliqué de faire afficher le mode recovery lorsqu'il devient nécesaire. https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/recovery_mode
