Mise à niveau 20.04

Bonsoir à tous,
J'ai enfin décidé de faire une mise a niveau 18.04 vers 20.04.
Je passe par l'interface graphique et au redémarrage : écran blanc après l'écran d'accueil avec "Oh mince! Quelque chose s'est mal passé. Un problème est survenu et le système ne peut pas se rétablir. Deconnectez vous et essayez à nouveau.". OK mais... Rien ne change.
J'ai lu que la carte NVIDIA pouvait être l'origine... En tous les cas, j'ai mis un LiveCD et ça tourne!
Est-il possible de corriger sans tout écraser ?

Bonsoir.
Il faudrait tenter de booter en mode recovery https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/recovery_mode et finir l'installation en activant le reseau et devenir root et faire la commande

apt install -f

ou booter sur le noyau précédant.

Merci de la réponse.
Tentative : "dpkg a été interrompu. Il est nécessaire...". J'ai donc saisi la commade dpkg --configure -a et... rien n'a changé! Ni après la saisi de la commande apt (même message), ni au redémarrage! :-(

C'est quoi le liveCD que tu mentionnes dans le post #1 ? Si c'est un LiveCD Ubuntu, je te prie de préciser de quelle version de Ubuntu il s'agit.

Eh bien après la première commande, je reviens sur l'écran d'accueil du mode recovery. Et si j'enchaîne sur install -f, ça me remet le même message :-(

As-tu essayé  de booter avec l'ancien noyau?

En recherchant dans internet, Il semble que cela soit un problème lié à l'écran, Ils proposent 

egrep "\(EE|WW|NI|\?\?\)" /var/log/Xorg.0.log

afin de voir les erreurs. Je vais voir s'il existe d'autres pistes


Je ne sais pas si cela est bonne idée, Réinstaller tout l'environnement de bureau. Cela devrait être cette commande

apt   install --reinstall  ubuntu-desktop

Si tu parviens à démarrer en session live sur ton LiveDVD Ubuntu 20.04, je te prie de faire un Boot-info depuis cette session live et de donner l'URL de ce Boot-info dans ta réponse. Je ne suis pas sûr qu'on y verra quelque chose mais ça vaut le coup de le faire à mon avis.

Tu n'as que des noyaux de la famille 4.15 qui sont certainement tes anciens noyaux de 18.04. Mais tu n'as aucun noyau de Ubuntu 20.04 (famille 5.4)

EDIT : si tu n'as pas de données précieuses stockées dans ce Ubuntu moribond, je te suggère de supprimer les deux partitions swap qui ne servent à rien ainsi que la partition racine de Ubuntu. Puis de faire une installation toute neuve de Ubuntu 20.04.1 dans la place libérée.

J'ai finalement pris l'option de tout réinstaller. J'ai récupéré mon répertoire home.
Installation sans problème, redémarrage, écran d'accueil Ubuntu, écran NVIDIA et... Écran noir !

Il me semble que l'installation est fonctionnelle même si elle n'est pas parfaite (je t'avais dit de supprimer les deux partitions swap qui sont inutiles mais je vois qu'elles sont toujours là).
Essaie de démarrer en sélectionnant les options avancées dans le menu Grub au démarrage puis en choisissant l'entrée en mode de dépannage (recovery mode). Raconte si tu parviens à ouvrir une session par ce moyen.

As-tu essayé le recovery-mode avec le second noyau.

Ton installation a fabriqué un fichier de swap. Donc les deux partitions de swap peuvent être supprimées  si tu le souhaites.

Pour supprimer les partitions de swap, on passe généralement par gparted : on supprime les partitions inutiles et on récupère éventuellement la place dégagée en agrandissant les autres partitions.
Attention : comme on ne peut pas (sous linux) modifier une partition en cours d'utilisation, il est recommandé de lancer gparted à partir d'une session live.

S'il faut effectivement démonter un système de fichiers pour pouvoir réduire la taille de la partition qui le contient,

ce n'est pas nécessaire de le faire s'il s'agit d'agrandir cette partition et agrandir le système de fichiers de cette partition
même si le système de fichiers qu'elle contient est en cours d'utilisation (<=> à chaud)

Donc, depuis ton système ubuntu, lance GParted,
et comme elles ne sont pas en cours d'utilisation,
tu pourras supprimer les partitions de swap /dev/sda5 et /dev/sda6
Puis clique sur la coche verte pour Appliquer toutes les opérations

Ensuite, avec GParted, tu pourras agrandir la partition /dev/sda7 même si elle est en cours d'utilisation.
En agrandissant cette partition, GParted agrandira automatiquement le système de fichiers qu'elle contient pour utiliser tout l'espace disponible dans cette partition.

Ci-dessous, j'ai lancé la commande df avant et après l'agrandissement de 2GB (avec GParted)
de la partition et du système de fichiers racine utilisé par mon système Xubuntu en cours d'utilisation.

Le système de fichiers utilisé par la racine de mon système Xubuntu est passé de 16GB à 18GB.

Sys. de fichiers Taille Utilisé Dispo Uti% Monté sur
/dev/sda5           16G    8,1G  6,8G  55% /
michel@ubuT450:~$ df -htext4
