Perso j'ai suivi ce tuto (section Dapper) qui m'a permis d'installer les pilotes des dépôts.
Ensuite j'ai rajouté les dépots de MrPouit dans mon sources.list, un coup de mise à jour et hop
Depuis que je suis les MAJ de sont dépôt j'en suis arrivé tranquillement aux 8.28.8.Mais avant ça: t'as essayé d'inverser les positions dans ton fichiers /etc/modules de manière à charger fglrx après agpgart ?
mmh j'ai éffectivement suivi ce tuto rien a faire...Alors je viens éssayer les drivers de Mr pouit
Mais rien à faire...

Chèr Docteur, je sollicite votre connaissance en drivers ATI parce que là, y'a plus que la corde qui m'attend .... j'ai éssayé toute les façons possibles d'installer les drivvers (ATI proprio, libre, restricted...) Rien n'y fait, j'ai des érreurs à droites à gauche... différentes... je suis perdu.
Pourtant, je tiens à préciser que mon accelération graphique à déjà fonctionné au par avant.
Alors, là, je viens d'ajouter votre dépot. et fait un upgrade....

euh... on ne voit pas ce que tu as :'(
cependant, l'erreur typique quand on utilise le dépôt de MrPouit se résoud en faisant ça:
Tu as bien installé le module fglrx correspondant à la version de ton noyau ? (sur mon dépôt je ne file pas une mise à jour de linux-restricted-modules car le paquet est trop gros)
(je rappelle la manip)sudo apt-get install fglrx-kernel-$(uname -r)
Ensuite, tu peux supprimer fglrx de /etc/modules (je crois que c'est plus utile maintenant, en tout cas chez moi ça fonctionne sans).
Puis, ajoute DISABLED_MODULES="fglrx" dans le fichier /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common.
Avant-dernière étape : "sudo depmod -a" pour recalculer les dépendances inter-modules.
Puis reboot, et normalement c'est bonBon si ça ne fonctionne pas (ou si t'as déjà fait ça), il faudrait voir le résultat de
- grep "(WW)" /var/log/Xorg.0.log
- grep "(EE)" /var/log/Xorg.0.log
- dmesg
Si tu cherches une dent de fourmi dans un sac de sable, trouve d'abord le sac de sable !

mon kernel est un 2.5.15-26-686
Je vois biens que le module FGLRX lancé est dans le log un 8.25.18.. et l'installé un 8.28.8
pourtant, j'ai disable fglrx dans /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules

C'est bien ce que je pensais
La solution, je te l'ai donnée
Il faut empêcher de faire charger le module par défaut de manière à ce que le nouveau puisse se charger tranquillou

D'abord, il faut que tu supprimes fglrx de /etc/modules : tu lui dis dans /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common de ne pas le charger, et tu le forces à le charger dans /etc/modules
Ensuite, tu as l'air de ne pas avoir installé fglrx-kernel-2.5.15-26-686, d'où ton problème de version (si tu utilises mon dépôt)
Après tout ça, il faut recalculer les dépendances inter-modules : sudo depmod -a
Et enfin, redémarrage (fermer ta session doit suffire, mais bon )

je viens de créer un script afin d'aider les personnes à trouver la source de leur problèmes avec les drivers ATI (fglrx)
je vais le mettre en ligne.
Il créer un fichier analyseATI.log où il y inscrit les informations relatives à dmesg...fglrxinfo...xorg.log...
Le tout préformaté entre deux balises CODE. Il ne restera plus qu'à coller le contenu dans le forum

Cela fait des semaines que j'épeluche les forums que je lis des man et bouquins sur linux... mais je ne trouve toujours pas la solution... en fait j'ai besoin d'un affichage externe (beamer) et j'ai un écran de portable qui est large (xwga je crois) Le truc qui pour mois est important est de pouvoir afficher autre chose sur mon écran que ce qu'il y a sur le beamer...
Avec les drivers ati je n'avais plus d'accélération et mon proc tournait un max... après suppression des ces drivers et des linux-restricted-... j'ai de nouveau l'accélération, mais alors mon écran me fait des truc bizares (lignes ou carrés) durrant le démarage.
J'ai modifier mon fichier xorg dans tous les sens en le gérant par svn... mais sans trouver de sollutions.
Voici l'annalise par le script mentionné ci-dessus (grand merci au passage).

D'après moi, Il faut que tu utilises le driver libre RADEON
Mais avant d'éssayer de l'installer, je te conseil d'éffacer les drivers ATI que tu as installer (fglrx) avec la commande :
sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx-control fglrx-driver xorg-driver-fglrx
Ensuite, tu devrais enlever le mot fglrx dans le fichier /etc/module (il ne te servira à rien à présent)
Ensuite, tu suit ce qui est marquer là :

Bonjour à tous, je vais continuer sur le sujet. J'ai un pc avec une carte ATI radeon X1900 XTX (bon j'avoue c'est pas à moi, c'est à un pote et testerais bien XGL dessus).

Essaie de commenter ceux-ci également dans ton /etc/modules :
#agpgart
#nvidia-agp
#amd64-agp
#fglrx
Ensuite, exécute "sudo lrm-manager", puis "sudo depmod -a", et redémarre (c'est pas sûr que ça change quelques chose, mais bon )

Tout fonctionne parfaitement pour le moment chez moi avec les drivers fglrx par defaut des depots, mais quand je passe a ceux des depots plf, qui sont donc plus récents, le direct rendering disparait (et je te dis pas la tete que me fais XGL )
J'ai parcouru le topic en long et en large sans trouver de reponse... Du coup je suis repassé aux anciens drivers. Ce n'est donc pas critique, mais ma comprehension et donc ma maitrise de mon systeme sont ébranlées ^^.
Je ne peux pas "betement" faire un upgrade des drivers ?

Bonsoir tout le monde,
Je dois dire que le tuto est super intéressant et tous vos commentaires m'ont permis d'apprendre plein de choses concernant la config des cartes ATI sur Kubuntu 6.06.1.
Cependant, je possède un portable ACER Aspire 1603LC avec une Radeon Mobility 9000 et toutes les manipulations que vous décrivez n'ont jamais activé la 3D sans avoir un bug. En effet, lorsque je mets les pilotes propriétaires avec fglrx, je ne peux plus configurer d'écran de veille sans que mon écran devienne tout noir, plus d'affichage, obligé de redémarrer X. Lorsque je met ati, effectivement pas de 3D. Et lorsque je mets Radeon, problèmes d'affichages sur la télé lors du branchement sur la sortir TV.
Finalement, à force de chercher, j'ai simplement la méthode que donne ATI pour installer leur driver et cela fonctionne parfaitement. J'ai maintenant la 3D, la sortie TV qui marche et l'écran ne plante plus quand je veux changer mon écran de veille.
En tout cas, merci pour tous ces renseignements. Je débute depuis à peu près 4 mois sur Kubuntu après avoir passé 3 mois sur Mandriva. Et j'ai tellement accroché sur cette nouvelle distrib que j'en ai fait une installation serveur chez moi sur un PII 450 avec 386 Mo RAM et 6 Go HDD pour mes mails, mon partage de connexion et mon partage de documents et imprimantes, ainsi que DHCP, DNS, NTP, HTTP, FTP. Et ça tourne du feu de dieu. En ce moment je suis en train de le paramétrer pour le VPN.
Et franchement, je m'éclate, même si j'en chie, c'est génial.

Il faut que tu recompiles le module fglrx pour ce nouveau noyau (2.6.15-26.47)

Je comprend à peu prés d'où ça vient mais je vois pas trop comment faire hélas
Je regarde dans synaptic là pour voir si j'ai pas un nouveau paquet flgrx a installer mais je vois rien, je ne vois nulpart non plus le numéro 46 ou 47 !
EDIT: ah si, c'est bon, je vois bien dans synaptic "flgrx-kernel-2.6.15-26-k7" version installée "8.27.10-1+2.6.15-26.46", il faut donc que je remonte la version .47 mais elle ne figure pas dans synaptic?!

En fait c'est pas trop compliqué.
Tu suis le début de ce tuto de manière à être sûr d'avoir tous les outils installés sur ton ordi.
Ensuite tu descends à la section Cette étape doit être réalisée à chaque mise à jour du noyau et là tu verras comment on recompile son module
Amuse-toi bien

Merci! Je viens de desinstaller toutes les références à flgrx dans synaptic, fait un upgrade/update dans la console, et là j'en suis à télécharger le driver sur le site d'ATI mais j'ai du mal à trouver celui qui me faut! C'est lequel qu'il faut prendre:
