Problème de boot sur XP vs ubuntu

Je voulais installer ubuntu sur mon PC en plus de Windows XP mais après l'installation je ne parviens pas à  lancer XP.
J'ai consulté un certain nombre de messages sur votre site mais je suis un peu perdu pour résoudre le problème tout seul.
Pour information, je possède 2 HD

Voici quelques informations :
* Après find/boot/grub/stage1 : (hd 1,1)

* Après sudo fdsik -l

Bonsoir,

Ajoute ça à  la fin de menu.lst

title		XP
root		(hd1,0)
savedefault
makeactive
chainloader	+1

Pour ouvrir menu.lst et pour pouvoir enregistrer les modifications :

sudo cp  /boot/grub/menu.lst    /boot/grub/menu.lst.bak                      une petite sauvegarde, on ne sait jamais...
gksudo gedit  /boot/grub/menu.lst

j'ai bien entré la liste de commandes mais cela ne fonctionne toujours pas. Le système se lance toujours sur Ubuntu.

Dans menu.lst, commente la ligne suivante :
hiddenmenu  devient
#   hiddenmenu

PS o๠se trouve ton install XP (hda ou hdc)

si c'est hda dans ton pavé XP (toujours dans menu.lst) mets :
root  (hd0,0)

Ce qui parait bizarre c'est que ton Xp n'ai pas été reconnu à  l'install.

Maintenant j'ai bien accès lors du démarrage du PC au menu de sélection avec la possibilité de sélectionner XP. Toutefois lors de la validation j'arrive à  un écran noir avec l'affichage suivant "Starting up". Rien de se passe et lors de l'appui sur une touche, je reviens à  mon menu de sélection.
Le seul choix possible reste donc Ubuntu.

O๠est installé Xp et as-tu modifié
root   (hd1,0) par
root   (hd0,0)
dans la section Xp de ton menu.lst?

Ben oui ! C'est bizarre.
D'après ça :

/dev/hda1   *           1        1583    12715416    c  W95 FAT32 (LBA) 
...
/dev/hdc1               1        5032    40419508+   7  HPFS/NTFS

je me suis dit qu'XP était sur la NTFS donc hdc. Ce qui est bizarre aussi c'est l'absence de hdb (pourquoi hda et hdc ?).
Mais bon, peut aussi que XP est sur la fat32 ?
