installer wifi avec protection wpa (enfin RÉSOLU!)
dansmon post http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=288541 avec l'aide de denis56 j'ai pu établir la connexion wifi en mode itinérant; ce qui m'a permis de mettre à jour ma configuration(inutilisable depuis deux ans) et ensuite effectuer la mise à niveau vers "Hardy Héron LTS" sans aucun problème avec Synaptic bien que très long (chapeau pour tous ceux qui oeuvre pour nous) .
Du coup j'aimerai pouvoir remettre en service la clé Wpa afin de sécuriser mes connexions.
J'ai un Imac en connexion ethernet au rez-de- chaussée et
au premier le portable "Dell Inspiron 9200" (qui n'en ai plus un: l'écran étant HS avec un moniteur externe); celui-ci est en dual-boot avec Windows XP.
J'ai fait un essai de réactiver la clé mais du coup sur Ubuntu la connexion est coupée et rien ne me permet d'activer la clé.
J'ai essayer de configurer avec network-admin mais cela n'a rien donné et j'ai dû tout remettre à zéro pour reprendre la connexion en mode itinérant.
Quelqu'un peut-il m'aider?

J'ai bien vu la documentation sur le Wifi avec WPA mais ai-je vraiment besoin de "WPA-Supplicant" pour cela?
Dans la documention, on dit que l'on peut l'installer avec Network-Manager et jusque-là cela n'a rien donné.

Je viens de me souvenir que devant ma clé il ya WPA-TKIP: est-ce la mâme chose ou dois-je l'indiquer dans l'interface?
Ce que je sais c'est que lorsque je clique sur l'applet de Network-Manager et que j'essaie de configurer eth1 il m'est répondu qu'il n'y a pas d'interface!

Bien, me revoilà après avoir des manipulations:
1- sauvegarder mon fichier /etc/network/interfaces
2- éditer un nouveau fichier en inscrivant les indications de la documentation.
3-faire redémarrer X, arrêter NetworkManager puis redémarrer après avoir enclencher sur ma box l'association.
4- je précise que lorsque je passe par l'applet de Networkmanager et que je veux configurer mon interface eth1: il m'est répondu qu'elle n'existe pas!
Voici le résultat:

[ OK ]Je remarque deux choses, la première:
L'adresse de la box n'est pas la même que celle indiquée dans le restart de networkmanager;
cela explique peutêtre le pourquoi du "Sleeping"
Autre chose également, dans la relance, je vois que "wpa_supplicant est évoqué: cela veut-il dire qu'il est installé?
Fayt-il que je le reconfigure?

Après maintes tentatives, j'ai fini par enlever NetworkManager, sans plus de succès.
Du coup, j'ai essayé avec Wicd mais sans y arriver non plus§
J'ai remis le mode itinérant , mais ne pas avoir de protection m'ennuie un peu.
Je désespère d'y arriver!
Faut-il que je passe à la version après Hardy Héron? pourtant j'aurais bien aimer rester un peu sur la LTS

Garde ta version 8.04 LTS. Si tu as fouillé le forum, tu as vu que nombreux sont ceux qui ont eu des pb en Wifi en changeant de version.
Tu n'as pas précisé quelle était ta Box. Avec l'association, cela sent la LiveBox, pas toujours facile à faire marcher.
Si cela ne marche pas en mode itinérant, utilise une connexion DHCP. Si tu n'arrives pas en clé WPA, change pour une WEP au moins pour voir et tu décideras après.

Merci sinbad83 de te pencher sur mon problème.
Ma box est une Inventel (Livebox) et j'ai une clé wpa et pas de wep.
Je ne comprends pas pourquoi je n'arrive même plus à me connecter en mode 'itinérant'!
J'ai généré une clé en héxadécimal avec wpa-passphrase.
Mais cela ne change rien pour autant!
Voici l'installation que j'ai:
au rez-de-chaussée un Imac connecté par prise ethernet et au premier un portable Dell en dual-boot avec Ubuntu et Windows XP (portable qui n'en est plus un puisque la dalle étant HS il est relié à un moniteur HP)

9a y est, je suis de nouveau en mode 'itinérant'.
Mais si je remets en service la clé sur la Livebox est-ce que je pourrais toujours être connecté?
Je croyais que non mais la dernière fois en revenant le lendemain et durant deux ou trois jours à chaque fois la connection s'est faite.
Je vais bien voir! mais j'en ai marre de ne pas arriver à résoudre ce point!
Quelqu'un aurait-il une Livebox sur un Dell pour m'aider à réussir la configuration du wifi?

Voilà mon fichier de connexion wifi, cela marche maintenant avec l'aide de Network-admin avec une démarche surprenante:
J'ai cliqué sur la clé wep, l'ai mis en héxadécimale, puis clé wep en ASCII en mettant la clé fournie par Orange qui est une clé wpa, et enfin cliqué sur clé wpa sans toucher à la clé déjà marquée et ce n'est qu'à ce moment-là que cela a fonctionné

auto eth1et cette configuration du fichier pour eth1, je l'ai déjà eu mais eth0 était aussi en inet dhcp ip automatique alors que là je l'ai mis en inet static.
