vieille carte ati et acceleration 3D

je possede un vieux pc avec une ati rage pro agp 2X 8mo : apres avoir lu tout les posts sur le forum je n'est toujours pas trouvé s'il existait un moyen d'avoir l'acceleration 3D sur cette carte. je sais qu'elles ne sont pas supportés par les drivers ati: j'ai vaguement entendu parlé de drivers mach64 mais ca a l'air de dater de plusieurs années.
donc est ce qu'il y a un moyen ou pas en fin de compte de reussir a avoir l'acceleration 3D sur linux avec ce genre de carte ou pas?

Il te faut le paquet suivant (dapper) :

xserver-xorg-driver-ati

et j'ai trouvé un petit guide pour la configuration de ta carte :

Salut!
Normalement le driver libre Ati supporte ta carte...
Tape ceci dans une console :

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Puis réponds aux différentes questions (normalement c'est pas trop dur) et au moment de choisir quel driver utiliser pour ta carte coche "ati".
Je pense que ça devrait marcher ensuite wink

heu en fait xserver-xorg-driver-ati est installé d'origine avec ubuntu: et tout est bien parametré dans xorg mais je n'ai quand meme pas d'acceleration 3d: lorsque je lance "glxgears" il ne se passe rien et "glxinfo" me donne ceci:  name of display: :0.0
                    display: :0  screen: 0
                    direct rendering: No
   c'est d'illeur bizarre parce que sur debian sarge glxgears marchait et pourtant je n'avais pas de direct rendering.

j'ai l'impression que xserver-xorg-driver-ati sert juste a supporter les cartes ati .

Je sais pas si ça peut t'aider, mais je me suis monté 2 vieux PC équipé de 3Dfx Vodoo 3  il y a 1 an...
J'avais tout bien installé mais je n'avais moi non plus pas l'accélération 3D.
Le problème était tout bête et venait du fait que ces cartes ne supportaient l'accélération 3D qu'en 16 bits... Et j'avais mis mon xorg en 24 bits!
Peut-être le problème est-il le même pour ton ancienne carte?

héhé je suis deja en 16 bit , j'y avais pensé comme j'en avait deja entendu parlé sur le forum. heuuu juste une question je trouve ca ou xorg.conf et /var/log/xorg.log ?  tongue

xorg.log :

/var/log/Xorg.0.log

xorg.conf :

le chemin est normalement : /etc/X11/xorg.conf

donc dans une console tu fais :

gedit /var/log/Xorg.0.log ou gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

edit : modification du chemin --> /var/log/Xorg.0.log (merci formatou smile)

Pour le fichier de log c'est plutôt /var/log/Xorg.0.log chez moi.

If so, reduce your resolution or color depth. The video ram necessary for a given resolution/depth is width*height*(depth/8)*3 kilobytes. (The 3 is for front, back, and depth buffers).

donc en gros ta résolutions est trop grande !

je venais justement de lire la meme page sur dri moi aussi : mais bon niveau resolution je peut difficilement mettre moins: je tourne en 1024x768  en 70 hz  et 16 bit rendu couleurs.   mais  je vais essayer de la baisser pour voir ce que ca change niveau dri.

mouai je vois pas de changement: j'ai changé la resolution de l'ecran pour voir mais nada.  j'ai egalement changé les resolutions possibles dans xorg mais rien non plus.
ca me laisse perplexe cette affaire!  neutral

je met le log pour voir si quelque chose a changé: j'ai juste enlevé les resolutions plus hautes que 1024x768 dans les resolutions possibles dans xorg.

heu c'etait marqué dans mon premier message en fait: "je possede un vieux pc avec une ati rage pro agp 2X 8mo" .
bien sur c'est tres vieux mais si le driver est prevu pour une carte comme celle ci ca explique quand meme pas pourquoi ca marche pas.

bon alors effectivement en 800x600 ca change kedalcomme prevu. le post a l'air interressant vu que c'est pratiquement le mm probleme que moi: par contre je comprend pas ce qu'on est supposé faire avec les lignes : 
        cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous at anoncvs.freedesktop.org:/cvs/dri login
        [hit Enter at the password prompt]
        cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous at anoncvs.freedesktop.org:/cvs/dri co drm
        cd drm/linux-core
        make
        cp drm.ko mach64.ko /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/char/drm/
        depmod -a
        [restart X]

Tu dois taper les lignes suivantes dans une console, ce sont des lignes de commandes :
Les lignes entre crochets sont des indications de ce que tu dois faire.

lol  oui ca je savais: j'ai passé quelques mois sur debian donc la ligne de commande ......    par contre cvs je connaissais pas et d'ailleur ubuntu non plus on dirait.
