voila, mon wifi ne marche plus sur ubuntu, alors qu'il marche directement sur le live cd ubuntu d'installation.
le probleme, c'est que je ne veux pas tout reinstaller vu que c'etait pas moi qui l'avais fait, et que j'ai plein de truc cool que je ne saurais pas remettre (flash, vlc...).
en plus, je ne vois pas ce qui a eu comme changement, si ce n'est que j'ai voulu installer un firewall, mais depuis je l'ai enlevé.
que faire ?

Je vais essayer de t'aider, mais pour ça je vais avoir besoin de plus d'infos :

1- Quelle version d'ubuntu utilises-tu : Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu ... ? Version 6.06 (Dapper Drake), 6.10 (Edgy Eft), ... ?

2- Quand tu dis mon wifi ne marche plus sur ubuntu, je comprend qu'il a marché un moment et puis qu'il ne marche plus maintenant. Quelle manip as-tu fais entre temps : tu as mis à jour Ubuntu (de Dapper vers Edgy par exemple) ? Quand tu dis que tu as installé un firewall, quel firewall as-tu utilisé ? Comment tu t'y es pris (un simple apt-get ou de la bidouille de fichiers de config dans tous les sens, comme IPTABLE ...) ?

3- Quel matériel as-tu : Un ordinateur avec Wifi intégré (quel marque), une carte wifi supplémentaire (quelle marque) ?

4- Quand ton ordinateur est démarré, tape dans un terminal les commandes suivantes et donne-nous le résultat :

ifconfig
iwconfig

Ces commandes permettent de savoir comment est configurée ta carte wifi sur le réseau ...

5- Dans quel environnement wifi es-tu : un particulier avec une livebox, freebox, ... ? Dans un lieu public avec un point d'accès Wifi ?

Voilà, ces infos serront utiles à tous ceux qui essayeront de t'aider ...

2 j'ai mis a jour ubuntu et j'ai installé et desinstallé iptable avec gestionnaire de paquets synaptic

Ok,

Ces infos sont précieuses Vu que tu as mis à jour et que tu n'as pas répondu précisément à ma question, je vais supposer que tu tournes sous Ubuntu 6.10 "Edgy Eft" (merci de préciser si ce n'est pas le cas).

La bonne nouvelle c'est que ta carte Wifi est reconnue par Linux et qu'elle marche.
La mauvaise nouvelle c'est qu'elle n'est pas configurée et qu'il va falloir le faire.

Est-ce que ton wifi a arrêté de marcher juste après la mise à jour, ou il a commencé à marcher après la mise à jour puis c'est arrêté après ton essai avec IpTable ?

Bon, passons aux choses sérieuses :

Ta carte utilise un chipset de Texas Instrument (ACX 111). Texas Instrument ne fournit pas de pilote libre pour ta carte. Heureusement il existe un pilote libre (http://acx100.sourceforge.net/) qui est celui utilisé par défaut sur Ubuntu pour ta carte. Ce pilote ne gère que le cryptage WEP pour l'instant (pas de WPA). Il existe aussi un projet permettant d'utiliser le pilote Windows : ndiswrapper. Ce projet supporte le WEP et le WPA mais est nettement moins stable et est sujet à polémique vis à vis de l'esprit du libre (au cas où ça t'intéresse ...)

Il va donc falloir que tu répondes à une question : le wifi de ta freebox est-il configuré en WEP ou en WPA ?

L'étape suivante (la configuration de ta carte) dépend de la réponse à cette question ...

Tu as juste besoin de connaitre la clé WEP de ton réseau.

Si tu n'y arrives pas avec cette doc, reviens me voir et on passera par la ligne de commande pour configurer tout ça. Mais je préfère te faire découvrir le site de documentation et te donner de quoi te débrouiller tout seul avant de te faire découvrir la ligne de commande (si tu le souhaites)

Si tu y arrives merci de le signaler ici et de changer le titre de ton post avec la mention [résolu] devant le titre.

Bon alors on va mettre les mains dans le cambouis

On va procéder de la façon suivante :

1 - On configure à la main ta carte pour accéder au réseau et voir si tout marche.
2 - On va enregistrer les paramètres dans les fichiers de configuration qui vont bien pour que le wifi soit bien configuré à chaque démarrage de ton ordi.

On utilisera un terminal pour toutes ces commandes. Quand tu utiliseras la commande "sudo", il arrivera qu'un mot de passe te soit demandé. C'est ni plus ni moins que ton mot de passe utilisateur classique.

1.1 On part de zéro c'est à dire :

a - On désactive ta carte wifi au sens réseau du terme :

sudo ifconfig wlan0 down

b - On désactive ta carte wifi au sens noyau linux du terme :

sudo modprobe -r acx

On fait une pause et on regarde si tout c'est bien passé :

ifconfig

ne doit rien renvoyer pour wlan0.

lsmod | grep acx

ne doit rien renvoyer.

dmesg

te dit tout à la fin que le module a bien été déchargé.

1.2 On active la prise en charge de ta carte par ton noyau :

sudo modprobe acx

On vérifie que tout c'est bien passé :

lsmod | grep acx

doit afficher une ligne avec acx dedans.

dmesg

te dit tout à la fin que le module a bien été chargé sans erreurs.

1.3 On active la prise en charge de ta carte au niveau du réseau :

sudo ifconfig wlan0 up

On vérifie que tout c'est bien passé :

ifconfig

doit t'indiquer une ligne avec wlan0 et des paramètres réseau habituels (adresse IP ...)

iwconfig wlan0

t'indique tout un tas de choses sur la config de ta carte wifi.

1.4 On vérifie que ta carte voit ton réseau wifi personnel :

iwlist wlan0 scan

t'indique une liste de réseau avoisinant, dont le tient.

A partir de maintenant tu dois avoir en ta possession :
- Le nom de ton réseau (ce qu'on appelle "l'essid"
- La clé WEP de ton réseau (une chaine hexadécimal)
- Le canal utilisé par ton réseau (voir la config de ta freebox dans l'interface de config chez free)

1.5 On associe ta carte wifi à ce réseau :

sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid "le_nom_de_ton_réseau"
sudo iwconfig wlan0 key restricted ta_cle
sudo iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed
sudo iwconfig wlan0 channel le_numéro_de_ton_canal

Et on vérifie que ta carte est bien associée au réseau wifi:

iwconfig wlan0

doit te donner un truc beaucoup plus sympatique que tout à l'heure (donne moi le résultat).

Et là on fait une pause pour être sûre que tout se passe bien de ton côté et que j'aille me prendre un café et bosser un peu

Bon en regardant les logs de dmesg, le module acx n'a pas l'air très content du firmware par défaut utilisé sur Ubuntu ...

Un petit tour sur le site du projet acx nous donne la manip à faire pour avoir le bon firmware .

On va donc procéder ainsi :

sudo ifconfig wlan0 down
sudo modprobe -r acx

ensuite dis moi ce que tu obtiens quand tu tapes les 2 commandes (je voudrais le résultat des 2 commandes), je suis désolé je ne suis pas sous Ubuntu en ce moment (je suis au boulot) :

ls -l /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/1.2.1.34
ls -l /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/default

C'est la touche juste à gauche du 1 sur un clavier QWERTY et c'est accessible en appuyant simultanément sur la touche "ALT GR" et la touche "è" sur un clavier AZERTY.

Mais tu n'es pas obligé de te poser la question : tu peux aussi faire un copier-coller des commandes que je te donne, le bon charactère sera copié quelque soit ton clavier !

Une petite chose avant de continuer : quand tu poste un résultat d'une commande peux-tu l'entourer des balises 'code', pour une meilleure visibilité, stp ? Merci !

Une dernière question :

ls -l /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/

te donne quoi ? (Après j'aurai tout ce qu'il faut pour qu'on continue )

Bon alors voilà : on va changer les firmwares utilisés par défaut pour utiliser la version qui va bien (si tu veux en savoir plus sur le pourquoi du comment tu peux lire ça : http://acx100.sourceforge.net/wiki/Firmware)

sudo rm -f /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/default/tiacx111*
sudo ln -s /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/1.2.1.34/tiacx111  /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/default/tiacx111
sudo ln -s /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/1.2.1.34/tiacx111c16  /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/default/tiacx111c16
sudo ln -s /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/1.2.1.34/tiacx111c17  /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/default/tiacx111c17
sudo ln -s /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/1.2.1.34/tiacx111r16  /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/default/tiacx111r16
sudo ln -s /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/1.2.1.34/tiacx111r17  /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/default/tiacx111r17

Ensuite tu me réaffiche le répertoire défault pour être sûre que tout c'est bien passé :

ls -l /lib/firmware/`uname -r`/acx/default

Après on va prier et recharger le module pour voir s'il est content
Il faut qu'on fasse vite parce que je dois partir à 19h00 et je ne serai pas dispo ce soir (sinon ça attendra demain pour la suite, mais c'est dommage car on est pas loin !)
