Bonjour,
même problème que la plupart des acteurs sur ce forum : passage à 14.04 et lenteur surprenante en regard de la vélocité de la version 12.
J'ai réalisé un upgrade en ligne.
Une seule question, puisqu'il semble que cette lenteur inexplicable soit structurelle : puis-je revenir à 12.04 sans tout réinstaller ?
J'ai (hélas) grub au boot pour une cohabitation avec "zindows".
Merci pour vos éclairages. Je dois avouer que je suis las de mettre les mains dans le cambouis.

j'ai installé Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. 32 bits
J'en avais ma claque de windows Vista sur mon PC alors j'ai tout viré et installé ubuntu. Pas de dual boot.
Je trouve que ce n'est pas super rapide.
Quand je me logue (en Gnome, je n'aime pas Unity), je compte les secondes après avoir rentré mon mot de passe pour voir mon bureau.
Quand je clique sur Firefox ou Thunderbird, l'ouverture n'est vraiment pas immédiate...
C'est pas Valmy c'est pas Verdun mais c'est quand même la misère par rapport à ce que j'attendais. Au bureau c'est bien plus rapide (c'est de l'OpenSuse).

End Of TableJ'ai cru que c'était ma connexion internet mais si je fais un test de bande passante (sur une mire SFR par exemple) je me retrouve avec une bande passante de 15078.17 Kbps (1884.771 Ko/sec), mais il est vrai aussi qu'elle est variable (à l'instant elle n'est plus que 9268.761 Kbps (1158.595 Ko/sec)).
Mais ma connexion internet peut, à la rigueur, expliquer que je rame avec Firefox, pas quand je navigue dans le bureau, si ?

J'ai le même problème que la plupart des gens ici, à ceci près que je débute sur linux et n'ai jamais testé de version précédente, j'ai directement installé ubuntu 14.04 32 bits en dual boot avec windows 7, qui lui tourne très bien. J'ai gardé le bureau unity d'origine. Pour résumer tout est long, les applis, internet, firefox, toujours un temps de latence bien trop visible... J'ai installé un pilote propriétaire pour ma carte graphique, sans résultat notable.
Pour ma config:
Dual core p7350 2ghz
4 go RAM
Geforce GT 240M (1GB)
C'est assez frustrant parce que j'apprécie pas mal l'environnement ubuntu, mais là ça va pas du tout !
Auriez-vous une idée? Je pourrais passer à Xubuntu, mais bon Ubuntu devrait tourner sur cette config quand même non?

Sinon j'ai précisé que j'avais justement installé un pilote nvidia (le dernier en date).

En fait, Ubuntu peut être lent pour une multitude de raisons diverses et variées. Traiter tous les problèmes de lenteurs de Ubuntu risque de nuire à la clarté et à la qualité de l'aide apportée à chacun. D'où mon conseil
