Problème mise à niveau depuis ubuntu 12.04

Bonjour à tous,

Je n'ai pas été très actif ces derniers temps( années ) avec mon ordinateur et il se trouve que je le ressors maintenant avec une version de ubuntu 12.10. J'ai donc voulu faire une mise à niveau et j'ai ouvert mon gestionnaire de mise à jour et j'ai j'ai eu ce message d'erreur:

Le téléchargement des informations du dépôt a échoué.

Vérifiez votre connexion à Internet.

Bonjour,

Tu ne peux pas faire de mise à niveau à partir de ta version.
Fait une installation à partir de la version 14.04 ou de la version 16.04 (2 LTS).
Donne la config de ton PC (CPU, GPU, RAM...), suivant la "puissance" il faudra choisir une variante plus légère que Ubuntu.

RAM: 4 Go
Processeur: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T8300 @ 2.40GHz × 2
Carte graphique: Intel® 965GM 
OS: 64 bits
Memoire: 312.9 Go

Re,

Toutes les variants d'Ubuntu fonctionneront sans souci sur ta config.
Télécharge la variante que tu veux installer sur la page Téléchargements (privilégie le DL en torrent).

Merci,

Pour le néophite que je suis, si j'installe un version 16.04 par exemple, et que je souhaite conserver mes données personnelles( /home) et la configuration de certains logiciels déjà installés, firefox, thunderbird, etc. Est-ce possible?

Dois-je choisir :

Mettre à niveau Ubuntu 12.10 vers Ubuntu 16.04

ou bien

Supprimer Ubuntu 12.10 et réinstaller

Supprimer Ubuntu 12.10 et réinstaller

Après avoir téléchargé une 16.04, tu crées un DVD ou une Clé USB Live.
Tu démarres une session Live avec le support créé.
En lançant ton gestionnaire de fichiers, tu récupères tes fichiers perso et les fichiers de configuration de tes logiciels (fichiers cachés) dans le /home de la version installée et tu les copies/colles sur un support externe.
Une fois tout sauvegardé, tu peux lancer l'install.

En lançant ton gestionnaire de fichiers

Il est possible que tu sois obligé de lancer le gestionnaire de fichiers en session Live avec sudo.
Pour Xubuntu :

sudo thunar
