Des idées pour tout de même réduire la conso? Parce qu'utiliser ubuntu avec des pains de glace, c'est pas pratique hmm

finalement malgré ce précédent post je suis toujours la ... j'explique :
en fait à la migration j'avais désactivé tout mon source.list de ppa (normal) mais finalement au moment de le réactiver
étant donné que j'avais déjà bumblebee d'installé et que je ne voulais malgré tout pas le dégager
j'ai finalement décidé de garder le dépot qui allait avec ... par contre les 2 dépots lié à Xorg ...
c'est eux que j'ai désactivé totalement et au final j'ai pas encore eu de souci de reboot X intempestif :
elle est vraiment pas mal cette 12.04 ... en même temps ça vaut mieux parce que c'est quand même une LTS

"GNU/Linux c'est que du bon mais M$ Windows ce n'est pas si mal"

Bonjour,
Je suis sous Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bits. Sur mon portable Dell Inspiron N5110 ( i5-2410M + NVidia GT 525M ) avec Optimus j'ai installé Bumblebee selon la procédure décrite sur la 1ère page de ce poste. L'installation s'est bien passée mais au redémarrage je me retrouve avec une résolution de 640x480 et je n'arrive pas à passer en 1366x768. sad

Je précise que l'installation d'Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64bits est toute fraiche et sans aucune modification si ce n'est l’installation de VLC et de Dropbox, rien de plus.

@snipe2004 : Là je vois vraiment pas. Il faudrait faire du debug poussé pour voir les problèmes, et j'ai pas le temps de m'occuper de ça, surtout via un forum. Est-ce qu'optirun fonctionne avec d'autres programmes tout de même ? Sinon, je suis au regret de t'annoncer que pour le moment, tu as juste gagné la désactivation de ta carte.

Hum c'est pas con, sachant qu'il arrive que ce problème n'affiche rien. Mais normalement, on renvoie clairement un message d'erreur expliquant le problème. Par contre, ça me fait penser que j'ai pas demandé le Xorg.8.log. Donc snipe2004, peux tu copier l'intégralité du fichier Xorg.8.log (toujours dans /var/log) ici ?

Dans ton cas, la solution est simple :
dans le fichier /etc/bumblebee/xorg.conf.nvidia , remplace : 

    Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP"

par 

    Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT"

Il faut rebooter pour que ça fonctionne, car une fois que le second xorg est lancé de cette manière (et planté) il est impossible à tuer.

@snipe2004 : en fait jusqu'ici, sur toutes les configs qu'on a vu, on avait soit le problème de mauvais moniteur connecté, soit le problème de "WAIT", mais jamais sur la même machine. C'étaient plus ou moins les symptômes d'un même souci : parfois, bumblebee est incapable de détecter le bon moniteur à associer à la carte nvidia.

Le souci pour toi, c'est qu'apparemment, quelque soit le moniteur choisi, il n'est pas valide... J'ai l'impression de n'avoir jamais vu ce cas de figure. Et je ne vois absolument pas comment gérer ça.

Merci pour l'explication néanmoins :-D Au moins je comprends un peu pourquoi ça marche pas :'(

Donc si j'essaie de résumer :

  • Ma config' est tellement bizarre que Optirun (ou nVidia) ne parvient pas à relier GPU et écran ;

  • Autrement dit, impossible d'utiliser ma carte nVidia pour l'instant

  • Et donc, pour avoir des effets visuels, je dois désinstaller Bumblebee et nVidia pour retomber sur la carte Intel ;

  • Mais es effets graphiques sont buggués, sans solution apparemment ;

  • Finalement, 12.04 pourrait-il m'aider, par exemple par son noyau 3.x ?

@Archange : je n'ai pas de réponse pour snipe2004, mais ça me fait penser à une chose : tu as testé bbswitch avec linux 3.3 et 3.4rc ? J'ai tenté le coup, et sur ces deux kernels, j'ai un crash au démarrage, le boot reprend, mais la carte nvidia reste allumée. Par contre optirun fonctionne.

et qui lui à un souci alors que moi pas j'ai découvert que finalement non :
ma migration de la 11.10 vers la 12.04 m'a fait sauter bumblebee
de mon coté je ne m'en plein pas puisque je voulais de toutes façon arrêter
par contre pour l'autre personne qui part d'une install neuve je comprend pas trop
d'autant qu'en live il n'avait aucun souci ...

@snipe2004 : Alors effectivement, après compulsion des archives, à chaque fois qu'on a eu un bug avec ce WAIT, c'était parce que le moniteur était CRT et pas DFP mais que DFP ne retournait pas d'erreur. Sauf que là, tu as clairement un DFP. Il n'y a pas de moniteur externe branché sur ton laptop ?

@Nepenthes : Pour ce qui est des kernel, c'est parce que tu utilises ceux de la mainline, ils sont buggés depuis le 3.0, ce qui cause un kernel panic avec bbswitch. Un bug est déjà ouvert sur GitHub pour ça depuis longtemps, et LLStarks en a ouvert un nouveau pour 3.4.

@doudy : Et ça :

Ah si, snipe2004, tu peux retenter le coup du "intel_iommu=off" dans la ligne de GRUB, il paraît que ce bug est encore présent en 3.2, donc sûrement pour toi. Mais pour info d'abord, tu utilises quelle version de Ubuntu ?

Effectivement, mes kernels proviennent de la mainline. J'avais bien eu ce bug en 3.0, mais il n'est toujours pas réglé depuis tout ce temps ?!
Tu sais où je pourrais récupérer des kernels récents qui ne comportent pas ce problème ?

@Nepenthes : Oui, toujours présent. Je trouve que l'évolution du noyau Linux est un peu anarchique depuis quelque temps (le bug sur l'ASPM, celui-ci, et beaucoup d'autres, ...). Et malheureusement non, aucune idée de où tu peux récupérer un noyau fonctionnel, pour peu qu'il existe. Cela dit, je pense que dès que le développement de Quantal aura commencé ils tourneront sur des noyaux au moins 3.4 non pourvus de ce bug.

bah c'est juste que synaptic me dit que bumblebee n'est pas installé sur mon pc
et la commande optirun est donc inacessible tout autant que glxsphere d'ailleurs ...
