@rc_outisde : C'est pas très étonnant compte-tenu des drivers intel toujours meilleurs et des limitations de bumblebee toujours présente. Si on arrive à se passer de VirtualGL, on peut avoir des performances environ 10 fois meilleures (même mieux pour certains), mais c'est pas facile...

@wilson125 : Non, pas de chipset Intel. C'est rare mais il existe des modèles pour lesquels c'est le cas. Donc pas d'Optimus, et pas de Bumblebee.

Merci pour la réponse, j'ai fait une reinstall et ça fonctionne bien mieux smile En revanche j'ai une autonomie ridicule (1h15) sur batterie (contre 3h en moyenne sous win), la commande grep me renvoie :

grep: /proc/acpi/battery/BAT/state: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type

Sachant que chez moi c'est bien BAT tout court pour ma batterie (confirmé par conky) tu penses que ça a un lien avec ma carte nvidia qui continue à pomper ? ou faut queje voie plus large ?

Bonjour, Sur un Alien 14" R2  Avec i5 G650 j'installe bumblebee comme prévu : Je lance glxspheres OK après j'essaye de lancer optirun glxspheres et là,j'obtiens : Failed to initialize Nvidia plus autre chose et le pc se coupe. La première commande me retournait bien 2 cartes graphiques. Maintenant,celle-ci ne retourne plus rien !!! La seconde ne donne rien alors qu'il y a bien un Xorg.8.log mais vide !!!
Le message reçu avant arrêt brutal du pc commence bien par Failed to initialize Nvidia.......

De mon cote, sur un Dell XPS 14z, la situation avec 12.04 se degrade, et j'ai vraiment l'impression d'etre maso de rester sous ubuntu...
Premiererement, apres un update du kernel (3.4.0-2-generic), Bumblebee ne parvient plus a eteindre la carte Nvidia:

Avec l'ajout du PPA xorg-edgers, les choses s'etaient sensiblement ameliorees (carte nvidia eteinte et perf intel acceptables). Mais de nouveau, une mise a jour a tout fait crasher chez moi, j'ai du tout purger xorg-edgers pour retrouver une session graphique.
Retour a la case depart donc. Quelqu'un a t il une idee des updates specifiques dans xorg edgers qui permettent de regler ces deux problemes ?

Alors pour info, oui il y a un bug dans le Kernel 3.4 jusqu'à la rc7 (3.4.0-2 sous Ubuntu)) qui empêche de passer des périphériques PCI en D3, notamment d'éteindre la carte nVidia dans le cas de Bumblebee. Normalement corrigé dans la version finale (3.4.0-3), mais il n'existe pas encore de version correcte pour Ubuntu de ce kernel.

Effectivement, il y a un bug sous Ubuntu 12.04 avec SNA (Sandy Bridge New Acceleration), qui a été désactivé dans les paquets disponibles sur xorg-edgers. D'où les performances ridicules des cartes Intel de cette génération.

Enfin, pour le bug que tu as eu avec le PPA xorg-edgers, c'est parce que comme je le disais implicitement plus haut, le noyau 3.4.0-3 disponible n'est pas correct : tu peux le voir à sa taille, seulement 50 Mio, contre généralement 150 Mio. Je me suis fait avoir aussi, et en plus en essayant de réparer cela, n'ayant pas vu le problème, j'ai fait pas mal de dégâts, et j'ai été contraint à la réinstallation. C'est à la réinstallation, quand il a téléchargé le noyau que j'ai tilté sur la taille beaucoup trop faible par rapport à d'habitude. Et en vérifiant le contenu de l'archive, j'ai vu qu'il manquait en gros tous les drivers, d'où les gros problèmes que ça a pu causer.

Du coup là je suis reparti en xorg-edgers, mais je me suis contenté du noyau 3.4.0-2 (toujours disponible), et je n'ai par contre pas de désactivation de la carte graphique du coup.

Même souci avec le noyau xorg-edgers le plus récent : j'ai compris le souci quand j'ai remarqué qu'outre la résolution de 800x600, je n'avais plus de son, ni de wifi.

J'ai testé le driver intel compilé avec SNA, c'est une catastrophe, plein d'artefacts partout.

@ArchangeGabriel : plus d'infos sur l'impact des nouveautés du noyau 3.5 ? DMA-BUF est intégré, avec le support des pilotes intel et nouveau, et les modifications de xorg allant avec ces nouveautés (GPu hotpluging) arrivent dans xorg-edgers. Concrètement, sachant qu'on dispose de bbswitch pour gérer la carte nvidia, il reste quoi à faire pour avoir l'accélération graphique sur la carte nvidia sans passer par VirtualGL ?

J'ai changé de DD et modifié dans le Bios  RAID (?) par AHCI.
En remettant comme à l'origine ( F9),impossible de démarrer sur Seven !
Je suis sous Mint 13 Mate avec 3.2.0-23.

@Nepenthes : Non pas beaucoup d'informations utiles pour le moment, il faudra voir ce que ça donnera avec les premières rc du kernel 3.5, les drivers correspondant et X.org. Peu de chance que ça arrive tout de suite dans xorg-edgers, pour le moment c'est X.org 1.12, sorti aujourd'hui d'ailleurs, et les changements de David Airlie ont peu de chances d'être intégrés dans 1.13 qui serait déjà en feature freeze, ni même dans 1.14 car en réalité les changements sont énormes (et notamment cassent tous les drivers existants qui doivent être modifiés en conséquence), et il y a de gros soucis de reviewing au niveau de l'équipe en charge de X.org. Du coup c'est pas vraiment pour tout de suite non plus.

@OCCULTHUM, tsndcb : Bien et ben il va me falloir /var/log/syslog de vos machines pour avancer. Je ne sais pas si vous pouvez le copier quelque part sur le web, sinon envoyez-le moi par mail (faites un MP, je vous répondrai et vous aurez mon email). tsndcb : Et sous Debian ça fonctionne ?

@joss2801 : Prévu, oui et non. C'est-à-dire que oui, c'est dans nos plans, mais non, ça n'est pas pour tout de suite. Le développement est un peu au point mort actuellement, et je suis overbooké au moins jusqu'au 2 août en ce qui me concerne... Et après je vais peut-être partir en vacances, je n'en ai pas prises depuis ... l'été dernier (où je n'avais d'ailleurs pris que 3 semaines).

@ArchangeGabriel : puisqu'on va devoir se servir de virtualGL encore un certain temps, serait-il possible de créer un base de donnée de ce qui fonctionne ou pas avec optirun ?
Cette idée m'est venue avec la sortie du dernier humble bundle. Beaucoup de jeux embarquent leurs propres bibliothèques et celles-ci sont chargées par leur script de lancement. Le problème, c'est qu'optirun utilise une méthode similaire forcer l'utilisation du pilote nvidia. D'où un certain nombre de jeux qui plantent au démarrage pour des problèmes de bibliothèques non trouvées.
L'idée en général est de faire un symlink du dossier de bibliothèques du jeu dans les dossiers de bibliothèques du système (afin que tout soit au même endroit), puis de supprimer le chargement des bibliothèques dans le script de démarrage du jeu. Puis insérer la commande "optirun" et tout roule.

Quel serait le meilleur endroit pour regrouper ces astuces ?

Merci pour tout cet énorme travail.  J'étais concerné par le problème posé par la technologie hybride nVidia  optimus : pas d'effets 3d ! J'ai installé Bumblebee et tout roule nickel. Toutefois j'avais un problème de mise en veille qui ne fonctionnait pas  sur mon Asus x53s tournant avec ubuntu 12.04 lts. Je n'ai pas réessayé de remettre en veille depuis que j'ai installé Bumblebee car si le problème persiste c'est embêtant, il faut que j'éteigne à la sauvage car je me retrouve devant un écran noir qui ne veut rien savoir ! Au premier redémarrage sauvage même écran noir. Il faut que je redémarre une 2ème fois pour retrouver l'écran Asus et puis le choix des OS du dual-boot.
Pensez-vous que Bumblebee à réglé ce problème de mise en veille, ou bien cela est-il lié à autre chose qu'à la gestion des carte graphique intel et nVidia ? Un grand merci encore !
EDIT : Je viens quand même d'essayer la mise en veille, le problème persiste. Je vais chercher ailleurs, mais si quelqu'un à une idée toute  même...
