Kernel panic : changer de kernel au démarrage ?

Bonjour !

Voilà l'ordi ne mon père ne voulait plus démarrer correctement, il indiquait des messages d'erreurs très longs avec notamment "kernel panic".
Sans comprendre et savoir pourquoi c'est arrivé, j'ai essayé de résoudre le problème.

J'ai essayé de changer la version du kernel au démarrage dans le GRUB. Et là , miracle, l'avant dernière version marchait.
Et maintenant je ne sais pas trop quoi faire.

1. Comment choisir automatiquement au démarrage tel ou tel version du kernel ? Car là automatiquement ça démarre sur le mauvais qui affiche après le kernel panic
2. Comment faire pour avoir la dernière version du kernel (j'imagine que c'est mieux), mise à jour et tout et tout.
3. Question bonus : un kernel panic c'est dû à quoi et comment l'éviter ? J'ai cru comprendre que ça pouvait venir d'une mauvaise mise à jour ?

Bonjour quentind,

Démarres sur l'avant dernière version qui fonctionne.

Ouvres un terminal
tapes

uname -r

puis tapes

dpkg -l | grep -Ei "linux-(g|h|i|lo|si|t)"

et postes le retour ENTIER des commandes
comme expliqué ci-dessous

Tu as beaucoup trop de noyaux, certains sont à moitié supprimés.

On va faire du ménage, tout en gardant certains noyaux utiles

Des trucs pour mon imprimante, et un truc que j'ai installé pour réparer le boot justement mais je ne m'en suis pas utilisé en fait.

Je me suis débarrassé de linux-generic-lts-vivid du coup aussi.

Oui pas de soucis, je m'absente un petit peu aussi là. C'est déjà trop gentil de ta art de m'aider autant !
Juste j'espère que ça marcherait ce soir ou demain matin car après je ne reste pas chez mon père.
J'essaye les différents noyaux et je vous redis.

Le kernel 4.4.0-66 -> kernel panic
Le kernel 4.4.0-64 -> kernel panic
Le kernel 4.4.0-62 -> ok !

PS :
Si on réinstalle tout Ubuntu - ce qui est une méthode de bourrin - ça fonctionnerait au fait ?
Car ya pas grand chose sur l'ordi donc je pensais à ça..
Après je suis intéressé aussi pour faire régler ce genre de problèmes proprement

La réinstallation ne réglerait pas forcèment le problème car si tu fais
une mise à jour, le noyau 4.4.0-66 sera à nouveau installé,
et si ton système ne fonctionne pas, le problème sera le même.

pour ton imprimante, il faut modifier le PPA :
tapes

sudo rm -v /etc/apt/sources.list.d/michael-gruz-ubuntu-canon-trunk-xenial.*

echo "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/michael-gruz/canon-trunk/ubuntu utopic main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/michael-gruz-ubuntu-canon-trunk-xenial.list

C'est bien embêtant ce kernel panic pour le noyau 4.4.0-66.

S'il n'y a pas d'autres solutions en attendant tu peux bloquer le noyau 4.4.0-62
pour éviter les futures mises à jour vers le 4.4.0-66 et +.

sudo apt-mark hold linux-headers-4.4.0-62

sudo apt-mark hold linux-headers-4.4.0-62-generic

sudo apt-mark hold linux-image-4.4.0-62-generic

sudo apt-mark hold linux-image-extra-4.4.0-62-generic

puis purger le noyau 4.4.0-66

sudo apt-get purge linux-headers-4.4.0-66

sudo apt-get purge linux-headers-4.4.0-66-generic

sudo apt-get purge linux-image-4.4.0-66-generic

sudo apt-get purge linux-image-extra-4.4.0-66-generic

postes le retour de

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

sudo apt-get clean

sudo apt-get autoremove --purge

dpkg -l | grep -Ei "linux-(g|h|i|lo|si|t)"

Ça peut-être gênant en cas de faille de sécurité dans le noyau.
mais ça reste assez rare.

Je propose de laisser comme ça, puisque tu as indiqué :
