[ABANDON] pas de menu grub

Bonjour

Je viens de faire ma nième installe de Ub20.04 sur un  nouveau PC, en double boot W10.
Mais cette fois j'ai une surprise je démarre sur Ub direct sans passer par la case menu ???

J'ai lancé un boot-repair qui n'a pas résolu le Pb

Je fais un constat très très bizarre.
Dans mon grub, que je positionne l'index
sur Ubuntu : GRUB_DEFAULT=0
ou sur W10 : GRUB_DEFAULT=2
Le résultat est le même
1-le menu grub n'apparait pas
2-dans les 2 cas je démarre sur Ubuntu direct
Autrement dit /etc/default/grub est sans action sur le démarrage

Pour avoir le menu grub au démarrage, peut-être modifier GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden pour GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu dans le fichier /etc/default/grub ?
C'est facilement réversible si ça ne fonctionne pas.

Effectivement ça a marché j'ai mon menu mais sans windows
ce qui était prévisible du fait de mon os prober qui ne le voyait pas, mais pourquoi ????

Bonjour,
Je ne suis pas sur que ça ait un rapport : chez moi, grub m'affiche bien les versions de Windows installées (mais qui ne fonctionnent plus depuis belle blurette ) mais os-prober ne trouve plus ma version de Debian, que je dois lancer via un "chainloader".
NB : le refus de démarrer de mes versions windows ne me gène absolument pas !

En fait je n'utilise que très peu W10, juste pour :
Power Point 2019 nettement plus performant que Impress, n'en déplaise à certains
et mise à jour des "zone de danger" pour la voiture
mais j'en ai quand même besoin

Sinon j'en ai eu marre d'être planté là et ai réinstallé, mais cette fois ô surprise c'est dès la 1e installe que W10 est ignoré, contrairement à l'installe précédente où cela s’était produit après paramétrage, du moins c'est ce que je croyais, en fait c'était suite aux MàJ d'Ubuntu.

Je suis planté cette fois depuis le départ et je ne vois pas quoi faire pour que os-prober reconnaisse W10 qui pourtant est bien là
Si quelqu'un a des idées je suis super preneur, merci aux futurs "dépanneurs"

Lorsque le grub constate qu'il n'y a pas de windows, il lui parait inutile (mais je me demande toujours pourquoi) de  présenter un écran de choix d'O.S. à booter.
NOTA, Pour que windows soit détecté, il faut repérer des fichiers de boot dans des partitions NTFS.
Or il n'y en a pas (Plus?) suffisamment.
N'aurais-tu pas supprimé une partition NTFS pour faire ton installation?
Peut-être que le réparateur windows saura remettre en état.

Sur les autres versions de linux que j'ai installées (Manjaro, OpenSuse, Solus, Fedora, ...) et qui bootent sur soit le disque d'installation (sdb pour Debian, sdc pour OpenSuse) soit sur le mbr de la partition root (sdc8 pour Manjaro par exemple), Debian n'est pas reconnu par os-prober (pour Debian, booter sur le disque fonctionne, mais bien sur os-prober n'a pas dans ce cas besoin de détecter Debian). Donc il y a bien un problème avec os-prober.Je me pose donc la question suivante (et je la pose du coup à la communauté) :
- os-prober ne détecte pas Windows 10 dans ce fil
- os-prober ne détecte pas Debian dans mon cas
=> y a-t'il un rapport ? Si oui, lequel ? Et surtout dans ces deux cas : comment rendre à os-prober la capacité de détecter proprement les OS installés ? (le fait est que dans ces deux cas, ça a fonctionné à un certain moment, puis plus rien)

NB : os-prober ne reconnait pas non plus BSD, mais c'est une autre histoire ...

oui et je me suis d'ailleurs demandé si je devais poster ici, car c'est quand même spécifique, ou dans les généralités de cette 20.04.
En fait c'est la 1e fois que j'ai ce type de Pb et apparemment ça n'a pas l'air simple à réparer !! si tu y arrives tu remonteras dans mon estime !!! (je sais être provocateur !)

Nouvelle galère. J'ai fait une connerie.
Je vous passe les détails, mais j'ai reformaté ma partition Ub.
j'ai réinstallé et voulu restaurer depuis partclone ma dernière MàJ / paramétrage, mais je ne démarre plus et crois savoir pourquoi.
En effet en repartitionnant j'ai dû changer l'UUID et il ne retrouve pas ses petits. Je peux retrouver l'ancien UUID de ma partition Ub en cherchant dans fstab, mais comment aller dans l'ancien fstab depuis live key ?
Je vais m'aérer un peu tant que c'est encore autorisé.

Je crains devoir tout réinstaller et surtout reparamétrer, le plus long. Vous pensez aussi ? ou vous savez comment faire ?
Je sais que le plus simple aurait été de remettre l'ancien UUID

je viens seulement de voir ton post, désolé
je l'ai mis dès le post #1 car je n'avais pas l'URL. Ca revient au même non ? C'est d'ailleurs là que j'ai constaté que l'OS w10 n'était pas pris en compte. Et comme il est dit plus loin, le bootmgr de W10 doit être réparé et j'y travaille.
Si tu as besoin d'autre chose, dis le moi, mais pour le moment le me bats avec le boot W10 et rétablir le bon UUID,( excellent exercice .... pour moi !)
PS : je viens de comprendre le sens de ta "boule de cristal" j'avais compris qu'on avait eu la même idée !!

la cible de ma sauvegarde est dans le 2e disque (sdb1) du PC
W10 est sur sda1
Ub est sur sda5
