Passage sous 20.04 sans soucis
Juste pour dire que le passage de la 18.04 à la 20.04 c'est fait sans problèmes et que, il est important de le noter, sur ma machine (cf. signature), UBUNTU est plus véloce et la gestion RAM meilleure qu'avec 18.04.
Je mets cela sur le compte de la suppression de la compatibilité 32 bits et le travail des équipes de développement. 
Par contre gros échec sur l'installation sur un SSD en remplacement du lecteur CD/DVD interne. Je viens de commander un boîtier USB externe afin de vérifier qu'il ne s'agit pas tout simplement d'un manque de fiabilité électrique. La carte mère n'est pas toute jeune.
Les nombreux tests en lecture/écriture n'ont révélé aucun problèmes. Certes, le disque de marque KINGSTON, SA400S37240G (SBFKB1H5) semble décrié sous LINUX mais j'aime bien aller au bout des choses. 
et puis, le vénérable HITACHI qui est le disque principal est d'origine...

Je te prie de faire un Boot-info depuis une session de ton Ubuntu 20.04 et de donner l'URL de ce Boot-info dans ta réponse. Cela permettra d'avoir des infos complémentaires sur ton installation.

toutefois il ne faut pas tenir compte de mes commentaires sur le disque dur (en raison du problème qui est en fait lié à la carte vidéo) ni sur la RAM, puisque chez le fabriquant, 666 (ou 555) correspond bien à 800 Mhz. 
(pouvait pas faire comme tout le monde ?).
Et effectivement j'ai posté un message concernant la carte vidéo. Les problèmes d'extinction de la machine étant un vrai problème pendant un bon moment.

Please do not forget to make your BIOS boot on sda (ATA Hitachi HTS54503) disk!On y voit qu'il s'agit d'une installation en mode non-EFI (mode Bios traditionnel) de Ubuntu 20.04. Comme il s'agit d'une installation chiffrée (mention "crypto_LUKS"), le Boot-info ne sait pas tout montrer (*) mais ce qu'on peut voir parait correct.
Je viens d'ajouter ton modèle K61ic dans la Liste des portables « Asus »
(*) on ne voit pas le fichier /etc/fstab ni le fichier /etc/default/grub de l'installation chiffrée

Je suis sur la 18.04 LTS et je voudrais savoir quels sont les changements notoires apportés par la 20.04 LTS et les petits problèmes rencontrés avant d'upgrader.

Suppression de la compatibilité 32 bits. Donc si ta machine est 64 bits, elle sera un poil plus rapide.
Je reviens vers le problème de SSD. J'ai reçu le boîtier externe, installé le KINGSTON 240 Gb dedans et pu installer sans soucis (à l'aide de Mkusb) une version Mint 20 pour test.
Les problèmes rencontrés précédemments lors des installations en disque secondaire à la place du lecteur interne CD/DVD sont bien électriques.

On peut donc en déduire que tous les disques SSD n'ont pas les mêmes tolérances pour leur alimentation électrique ou de connectique.

Ayant eu à réinstaller UBUNTU, je viens ici préciser, que "le passage sans problème" s'effectue depuis la 18.04. En effet, l'installation depuis l'ISO est impossible sur ma machine !!! Délais d'installation hors norme (45 minutes pour 1/3), même problème avec LM 20 ceci dit (3h00 pour 50 %), donc installation depuis ISO 18.04 (35 minutes) puis MAJ interne.
