et j'ai :

Ah mais non, surtout pas, l'upgrade vers 20.04 plante systématiquement.

Un :

sudo apt update

met à jour tes dépôts.
Si tu ne le fais pas, tu ne pourras pas installer Synaptic.
Une fois que tu l'auras fait :

sudo apt install synaptic

sudo apt update → vérifie s'il y a du nouveau dans les dépôts de ta distribution
sudo apt full-upgrade → mets à jour ces ↑ paquets et leurs dépendances, pour ceux effectivement installés chez toi.
sudo apt autoremove --purge → supprime les paquets devenus inutiles ou obsolètes

     → ce sont les mises à jour « ordinaires » de ton installation, en aucun ces commandes ne vont t'installer une nouvelle version d'Ubuntu.
     → commandes à passer régulièrement OU t'assurer que ton gestionnaire de mises à jour est bien configuré ( il fait la même chose ).

D'après → https://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=2060971 → c'est une 19.04 donc un peu trop tard pour tenter la mise à niveau de version… ou l'installation de nouveaux paquets.

la 19.10 n'est plus maintenue
alors c'est :
ou 20.04
ou 18.04
ou passer les depots en old-release ( mais pas de mise a jour de securite )

Grand merci pour ces infos ! J'ai par ailleurs commandé le DVD de 20.04 au cas où je n'arrive pas à l'installer sur une clé usb.
Tout devrait s'arranger
