Bonjour
Je cherche à installer ubuntu 14.04 sur un nouveau micro (portable toshiba)
Je voudrais conserver W8 déjà installé.
J'ai bien constaté que l'EFi était activé
J'ai téléchargé ubuntu 14.04 international
Le live va bien, mais j'ai un souci lorsque je veux faire l'instal au niveau du partitionnement.
Il me trouve , je cite :
genre taille utilisé système
sdb1 ntfs 1073 M 396M
sdb2 efi 104 M 52M
sdb3 ntfs 134M 14M
sdb4 ntfs 487540M 22987M
sdb5 ntfs 11525M 10197M
aucune mention de système d'exploitation, apparemment w8 est sur sdb4 mais quid des autres partitions ?
Lorsque je vais sur W8 pour y voir plus clair :
taille libre
partition récupération 1000M 100%
efi 100 M 100%
partition récupération 10.48M 100%
c: 454000M 95%
Je n'arrive pas à savoir quoi faire pour partitionner sous ubuntu sans toucher à W8.
des partitions sont libres sous window$ et en partie utilisées sous ubuntu ...

J'ai utilisé gparted :il me donne ceci
drapeaux
/dev/sda1 hidden,diag

/dev/sd5 hidden,diag
il me faudrait sans doute redimensionner sda4 qui n'utilise pour windows que 21G sur 454 et créer dessus une partition pour accueillir ubuntu ?
le risque de supprimer windows ne me tourmente pas trop, je voudrais surtout être sûr que le micro redémarre sur ubuntu ....

Si tu veux pouvoir réinstaller Windows 8 dans ton ordi, je te suggère de créer une clé USB de restauration comme expliqué par Mudochon dans ce post : http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.ph … #p17097951 (n'attends pas d'être dans la merde pour le faire. Sinon, tu peux faire à la place une image disque suivant ce tuto)

J'ai déjà fait une sauvegarde de W8 sur 3 dvd.
Je pense donc, réduire (sous w8) la partition sda4 qui n'utilise que 21G sur les 454 de la partition.
Par contre je lisais qu'il ne pouvait y avoir plus de 4 partitions principales sur le dd.
Or J'ai sda1 ---> sda5 soit 5 partitions : ce qui m'étonne ....

Les 4 partitions principales c'est valable pour une table des partitions msdos, or je pense que ta table doit être de type GPT et cette limitation n'existe plus.
PC fixe sous Bionic 64 bits et portable avec Focal 64 bits

Ce sont des partitions étendues donc tu pourras en créer plus de 4 sans problème...
Sur mon toshiba Satellite j'avais les partitions suivantes avant l'installation d'Ubuntu
- sda1 1073 Mb partition de récupérations Windows
- sda2 105 Mb système EFI
- sda3 134 Mb réservé Microsoft
- sda4 107 Gb basic data ( c'est celle que j'ai réduite pour installer Ubuntu )
- sda5 11 Gb partition de récupérations Windows
C'est donc bien la partition sda4 qu'il faut réduire 
Une fois que tu auras réduit la partition sda4 avec l'outil de disque Windows, surtout n'oublie pas d'utiliser obligatoirement l'option " autres choses " quand l'installeur te demanderas ce que tu veux faire. En effet celui ci ne verra pas W8 et si ne fais pas tes partitions manuellement dans l'espace que tu auras libéré tu vas écraser ton W8 à coup sur.
Tu peux t'aider pour cela des nombreux tuto/sujet sur ce forum.
Après installation, si ton PC redémarre systématiquement sur W8 sans le proposer le choix via le menu Grub pas de panique. Le boot EFI des Toshiba est un peu en mousse mais on arrive en général à régler le problème facilement

Je confirme les avancés de Moduchon, il est aussi conseillé de faire un bon nettoyage de Windows et de faire une défragmentation avant l'installation ce qui libère le maximum d'espace disque.

J'ai effectivement fait le tour des tutos sur la question, bien pratiques, mais à l'heure de franchir le pas : un peu d'anxiété
Lorsque j'aurais réduit sda4 à 30G, comment sera noté le reste, les 424G ( 454-30G que je compte garder pour w8) ? comme espace libre , ou vont-ils rester en ntfs ? de toute façon, je passe ces 424G en ext4 et dedans je crée : / , home et swap ... c'est bien ça ?

La seule partition obligatoire c'est le /
Pour la swap et le Home tu peux t'en passer ( mais c'est tout de même mieux de les faire, c'est plus prudent )

J'ai bafouillé un peu pour le partitionnement, mais j'y suis arrivé
Installation de Ubuntu 14.04 (http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/cd_ubuntu-fr) sans aucun problème et ... redémarrage après l'install sans souci sur ubuntu, avec le choix de window possible.
Tout roule !

Tu cherches quoi avec Synaptic exactement ?
Si c'est le gestionnaire de paquet synaptic, il est dans la logithèque Ubuntu.
Pour Cinnamon, je l'ai installé en suivant les conseils de la documentation

Donc dans un terminal
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kranich/cubuntu
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cinnamonEnsuite tu fermes ta session, tu choisis Cinnamon dans la liste et c'est tout bon

Certains ont des difficultés avec le dual-boot dans un ordi Toshiba : pour que je puisse essayer de comprendre pourquoi ça se passe bien chez toi, pourrais-tu faire un Boot-Info depuis une session de ton Ubuntu installé sur disque dur en utilisant cette procédure simplifiée : http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.ph … #p16690381

Normal, le liveCD Boot-Repair-Disk 64 bits n'est pas compatible EFI : http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=604011&p=8
En dehors de ça, c'est une daube immonde et je te déconseille de l'utiliser. Utilise un liveDVD de Ubuntu 14.04 à la place.

D'après le Boot-Info que j'ai collé dans le post #22, tu as deux possibilités pour démarrer Windows 8 :
1) en sélectionnant l'entrée "Windows Boot Manager (sur /dev/sda2)" dans le menu Grub
2) En enfonçant la touche F12 au démarrage et en la maintenant enfoncée jusqu'à l’apparition du Boot Menu, puis en sélectionnant l'entrée "Windows Boot Manager"
Peux-tu vérifier et confirmer cela ?
