[Résolu] Installer Linux sur HP: bonne idée?

Bonjour,

Je voulais savoir si c'était une mauvaise idée d'installer Linux sur un ordinateur HP. J'ai des craintes car, actuellement, mon ordinateur dispose d'une assistance HP (HP Support Assistant) qui me permet de mettre à jour régulièrement des périphériques, BIOS...

Je voulais savoir si, en installant Linux, les mises à jour HP continueront à se faire? Si oui, est-ce qu'ils se feront toujours par l'intermédiaire de cet assistant?

D'après ce que je viens de voir dans Google, "HP Support Assistant" est une application Windows. Par conséquent, si tu installes Ubuntu en cohabitation avec Windows (on dit "en dual-boot"), ton application "HP Support Assistant" continuera à te rendre le même service qu'avant et plus généralement, ton Windows fonctionnera comme avant.

Perso, je n'utilise plus le dual boot et dans mes installs sur ordi HP, le HP assistant est la première cochonnerie que je vire.
Ca ne m'a jamais posé de problème.

Par ailleurs, les pilotes de périphériques installés par cet assistant sont pour W$, pas pour Linux (c'est le noyau linux qui embarque la plupart des pilotes)

Seul truc à faire : vérifier que le BIOS est à jour lors d'une full install Linux, car les mises à jour de BIOS sont fastidieuses sous Linux. Maintenant, un BIOS "à jour" n'est pas forcément utile, dans certains cas, le firmware bugge et on doit au contraire installer une version antérieure (j'avais eu ça sur des dv6000 !)

@Speakers : l'intervention de nam1962 me fait douter. Est-ce que ton souhait est bien de conserver Windows et d'installer Ubuntu en cohabitation avec Windows ou bien est-ce que tu veux virer carrément Windows pour le remplacer par Ubuntu ?

Merci pour vos réponses, effectivement mon souhait était de faire cohabiter Ubuntu et Windows 10... chose faite mais avec un problème que je rencontres...

Pour installer Ubuntu, j'ai suivi un tutoriel de WikiHow disponible ici: https://fr.wikihow.com/installer-Ubuntu … s-Windows)
J'ai donc suivi les instructions, et j'ai installé Ubuntu, seulement lors du redémarrage, GRUB ne détecte ni Windows 10, ni Ubuntu, ça me renvoie toujours vers le bureau pour installer à nouveau Ubuntu. Lorsque j'essayes à nouveau d'installer Ubuntu, ils me disent que je possède déjà Ubuntu et Dual Boot Manager (je pense que c'est Windows).

Donc ma nouvelle question est la suivante: comment se fait-il que je ne puisse accéder ni à Ubuntu, ni à Windows à cause de GRUB qui me renvoie toujours vers l'installation d'Ubuntu? (ma clé USB est toujours branché à mon pc lorsque je rallumes le pc) Merci!

Hier soir, j'ai entrepris l'idée de faire cohabiter W10 et Ubuntu sur mon ordinateur HP récent de quelques mois...

Dans ce cas, la partition HP Assistant n'a aucune raison d'être touchée.
Tu dis que ta clef USB est toujours branchée, est-ce la live USB ? Si oui et que le bios est réglé sur usb en priorité, il est logique que ca te propose l'installation.
Que se passe t'il quand tu débranches la clef ?

Lorsque je débranches ma clé ça me renvoie sur Windows 10, je ne sais pas ce que vous entendez par live USB, c'est une clé USB que je branches directement sur le port de mon PC.

Hum ! je m'en pourlèche...
@ Speakers : démarre l'ordi sur ta LiveUSB en sélectionnant "Try Ubuntu without installing" (Essayer Ubuntu sans l'installer). Arrivé sur le bureau de ta session live, je te prie de faire un Boot-Info et de donner l'URL de ce Boot-Info dans ta réponse.

Dans l'image que tu as collée dans le post #6, on peut lire "HP Laptop 15-bs0XX". J'ai tenté de trouver ce qu'il pouvait y avoir derrière XX mais je n'arrive pas (si tu n'avais pas caché l'ID de produit dans l'image, j'y serais peut-être parvenu mais là je sèche). Peux-tu donner le nom complet de ton modèle ? Cela me servira pour rentrer ton modèle dans la Liste des portables HP

Merci. Après recherche dans Google sur 1ZL65EA#UUG, j'ai trouvé cette page : https://www.mediamarkt.be/fr/product/_h … 73742.html
On y voit que le nom complet de ton modèle est HP 15-bs007nb et qu'il est équipé d'un processeur Intel Pentium N3710. La partie graphique "Intel HD 405" (ou "Intel HD Graphics 405") est intégrée sur la même puce que le processeur. Il n'y a pas de carte graphique dédiée.

EDIT : je viens d'ajouter ton modèle 15-bs007nb dans la Liste des portables HP

Est ce que cela veut dire qu'à chaque lancement du PC il faut presser sur F9?

Je suis intéressé par la question car j'ai un Laptop HP (LAPTOP PNKEKA 78 ; Processeur I5)  semblable et je veux me faire installer Ubuntu MATE prochainement

Oui, c'est la procédure la plus généralement employée (*). Toutefois, on trouve des cas où le démarrage par défaut d'un ordi HP se fait sur Ubuntu sans qu'aucune manip particulière n'ait été faite par la personne qui a fait l'install. Et on trouve aussi des cas où on obtient ce démarrage par défaut sur Ubuntu après un certain paramétrage du "Bios" (exemple ici). En fait, ça dépend des modèles de HP.

(*) fais une recherche des occurrences de F9 sur la page Liste des portables de la marque Hewlett Packard : tu verras que c'est la majorité des cas.
