Dual Boot UEFI - "grub-install /dev/sda failed"
Bonjour,
Je veux installer Ubuntu en dual boot sur mon ordinateur (marque MSI, Windows 10, mode UEFI).
J'ai créé une clé bootable à l'aide de Rufus où j'ai mis "ubuntu-20.04-desktop-amd64.iso", avec comme schéma de partition : "GPT", comme système de destination "UEFI (non CSM)".
J'ai libéré un espace non alloué d'environ 80Go (il y a 2 autres espaces non alloués mais je n'arrive pas à les fusionner).
J'ai désactivé le "secure boot" et le "fast boot" dans le menu BIOS puis j'ai booté sur ma clé.
Mon installation plante si je n'écrit pas "acpi=off" dans la configuration Ubuntu, donc je fais aussi cette étape.
Lors de la préparation de l'installation, aucune erreur n'est trouvée.
Je configure pour avoir une installation minimale, puis je choisi "installation à côté de windows boot manager". Il m’avertit que les tables de partition qui seront changées sont "SCSI2(0,0,0) (sda)" et que la partition qui sera formatée est la 6.
L'installation démarre puis je tombe sur l'erreur "grub-install /dev/sda failed".
Ceci arrive de manière récurrente. J'ai essayé différentes méthodes, par exemple de choisir moi même les partitions (une Ext, une BIOS et une SWAP).
Le boot-repair ne fonctionne pas directement pour réparer : "/target detected. Please reboot and try again from a new live session."
La seule technique qui a marché était d'installer Ubuntu en ayant le boot mode en LEGACY et non pas en UEFI. Je passais d'un OS à un autre en changeant le boot mode. Mais de ce que j'ai compris, cette installation n'est pas recommandé (?) (j'avais d'ailleurs pas mal de problèmes de réseaux après, à voir si c'était lié) -> si ça n'est pas déconseillé je vais refaire ça et je regarderai mes problèmes au cas par cas.
Actuellement, si je veux redémarrer sur Linux, j'arrive sur une sorte de terminal Grub dont je n'arrive pas à sortir.

MAIS LE GRUB standard est introuvable.
Vu le passé que tu décris, je te propose quand même de faire cette commande depuis une live USB qui met ubuntu prioritaire

Tu rebooteras. Je crains que cela soit windows qui se lance car l'installation standard le fait déjà.
Tu iras dans le bios, tu essayeras de voir si tu peux ordonner tout cela en mettant ubuntu en tête

Si tu ne trouves rien , tu lances windows et tu l'informe d'utiliser un autre chargeur de boot pour le prochain boot.

For example you can boot into Windows, then type the following command in an admin command prompt:
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\****\shim****.efi (**** will be updated in the final message))
Dans ton contexte, la commande est à faire en mode administratif de l'application windows powershell.
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi
Il n'y a pas lieu d'y mettre le shim puisque le mode sécure n'est pas activé. Mais je ne suis pas certain de l'exactitude de la commande qui à varié suivant les mises à jour de windows, Elle pourrait être

Pourrais-tu relancer le boot-repair et poster son contenu après exécution
Il faudrait que tu choisisses "options avancées" puis dans la paragraphe 3.3 l'option Purge GRUB before reinstalling it
Raison, tu as déjà certainement lancé boot-repair en demandant la réinstallation. Cette option va ajouter la purge puis la récupération du dernier logiciel du grub . Je pense que tu as encore son logiciel LEGACY incapable de fonctionner en EFI
On verra bien au retour.
D'autre part, peux-tu donner la référence commerciale de ton MSI afin de chercher sur internet un cas semblable?

Entre temps j’avais effacé mes partitions donc j’ai dû refaire l’installation, ce qui a pris un peu de temps.
Pour votre premier message, les commandes fonctionnaient toutes les deux et cela a changé le fait que dans le bios, dons l’onglet boot, j’avais en plus de « Ubuntu » et « Windows », « Windows boot manager » comme choix. Comme j ai rebooté sur la clé usb pour faire l instal j’ai pas vérifié ce que cela changeait - j'ai de nouveau eu la même erreur à la fin de l'instal "grub-install /dev/sda failed".
J'ai installé boot-repair
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair && sudo apt update && sudo apt install -y boot-repairj'ai fait les mises à jour
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade"134 mis à jour, 32 nouvellement installés, 0 à enlever et 0 non mis à jour."
J'attends la fin de cette commande et je lance le boot-repair.
Aurais-tu une commande pour avoir le nom de l'ordi ? Impossible de le trouver quelque part .. :c et j'ai pas trouvé de commande sur internet

Pour le boot-repair, j'ai toujours l'erreur "/target détecté. Veuillez redémarrer l'ordinateur et re-essayer depuis une nouvelle session live." lorsque je veux appliquer les réparations.

Pour info, je regarde pour un tuto pour installer manuellement grub https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/grub-pc.
Les manips que j'ai faites dans les messages précédent ont été perdues car j'ai voulu voir si ça changeait quelque chose en redémarrant et je suis tombé sur le même terminal Grub où je ne sais pas faire grand chose. Du coup j'ai refait une nouvelle instal, avec toujours le même problème.
J'ai exécuté la commande suivante afin d'installer grub :
sudo apt purge grub grub-pc grub-common -y && sudo apt install grub-pc -yA la question "périphérique où installer GRUB:" j'ai le choix entre " [ ] /dev/sda " (qui est mon disque) et " [ ] /dev/sdb" (qui doit être ma clé).
Entre les crochés j'ai comme une insertion rouge possible mais je n'arrive pas à insérer quoi que ce soit. Est-ce qu'il faut insérer quelque chose ? (un numéro de partition ? )
Si j'appuie juste sur "entré" en ayant le curseur rouge sur /dev/sda, j'obtient ansuite le message suivant :
"Vous avez choisi de n'installer GRUB sur aucun périphérique. Si vous

Et si je continue en répondant "oui", j'ai le message dans le terminal :

grub-probe : erreur : impossible d'obtenir le chemin canonique de « /cow ».
Apparemment c'est un pb connu, je vais regarder du coup, si jamais vous avez des solutions je suis preneur !
J'ai par ailleurs refait un boot repair et quasiment rien n'a changé à par les boot files pour sda1 mais je ne mesure pas les conséquences de ces changements ..

Ceci arrive de manière récurrente. J'ai essayé différentes méthodes, par exemple de choisir moi même les partitions (une Ext, une BIOS et une SWAP).
Le boot-repair ne fonctionne pas directement pour réparer : "/target detected. Please reboot and try again from a new live session."
La seule technique qui a marché était d'installer Ubuntu en ayant le boot mode en LEGACY et non pas en UEFI. Je passais d'un OS à un autre en changeant le boot mode. Mais de ce que j'ai compris, cette installation n'est pas recommandé (?) (j'avais d'ailleurs pas mal de problèmes de réseaux après, à voir si c'était lié) -> si ça n'est pas déconseillé je vais refaire ça et je regarderai mes problèmes au cas par cas.
On voit un résidu de l'installation en Bios_Legacy, grub première partie est écrit dans le secteur de boot du disque /dev/sda, la partition d'installation était la /dev/sda8

geole donnera un avis, mais il n'est pas impossible que l'installateur de Ubuntu, même lancé en live UEFI soit trompé par cette configuration du disque. On voit ce type de problème souvent dernièrement.
Dans le boot-info du post#1, on voit l'installation faite en mode UEFI dans /dev/sda6. La partition boot-efi /dev/sda1 sert au démarrage, et contient des données pour démarrer ne mode UEFI..
Dans le boot-info du post#9, on voit une installation bizarre.
La partition boot-efi . /dev/sda1 est vide de données permettant de booter en mode UEFI.
C'est un grub-efi qui est installé dans le Ubuntu de /dev/sda6
sda6 : is-os, 64, apt-get, signed grub-pc grub-efi , grub2, grub-install, grubenv-ok, update-grub, farbiosQu'est-ce qui marche dans ce type de configuration? Windows et Ubuntu?.
En réponse au post10.
Tu utilises une commande pour réinstaller un grub-pc et non un grub-efi depuis ton Ubuntu lancé en UEFI.
C'est normale que tu retrouves encore la possibilité de réinstaller grub dans /dev/sda.

Pour ta question Qu'est-ce qui marche dans ce type de configuration? Windows et Ubuntu?., je ne suis pas sûr de la comprendre

Pour information, mon ordinateur s'est éteint, acpi=off ....., du coup j'ai reboot sur le windows car sinon il fallait que je refasse toute l'installation, ce dont je n'ai pas eu le courage.
Par contre je pense que je vais envisager "en urgence" d'utiliser Linux avec une interface graphique sous windows (https://openclassrooms.com/fr/courses/4 … reau-unity) comme proposer par Geole , ce qui est plus simple à mettre en place. Je vais voir si ça peut répondre à mes besoins (installer IDE python + docker)
Sinon pour le pb du dual boot, je pourrai retenter l'install manuelle de grub-efi, en ayant clean les résidus de l'install que j'avais en legacy (aucune idée de comment on fait 
)

Fais ce Geole demande. Lance la réparation avec boot-repair et donne le rapport (de boot-repair, et non de boot-info) qui va avec pour qu'on puisse voir à quel moment ça bloque.

Malheureusement dès que je lance les réparation du boot-repair (avec ou sans option "purge grub"), j'ai l'erreur /target détecté. Veuillez redémarrer l'ordinateur et re-essayer depuis une nouvelle session live.

Je suis surpris que le réparateur ne produise pas un extrait et te balance froidement la commande "/target détecté. Veuillez redémarrer l'ordinateur et re-essayer depuis une nouvelle session live."
Il serait vraiment temps qu'il commence à dire que le boot à été fait en mode LEGACY ou en MODE EFI dès son démarrage.
Je suis surpris, qu'il ne te propose pas une sortie papier.
Pour la suite, si tu le désires
1) Booter avec le support d'installation de ubuntu
2) Choisir essayer avant d'installer et ouvrir un terminal
3) Vérifier que le boot a bien eu lieu en mode EFI et pas en mode LEGACY. C'est toi qui aiguille avec le bios et ses priorités
=> Lis cette documentation https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/uefi tout spécialement le chapitre 3.
et fais la commande
[ -d /sys/firmware/efi ] && echo "Installé en mode EFI" || echo "Installé en mode classique"Tant que la réponse sera "Installé en mode classique", tu n'auras aucune chance pour pouvoir modifier la NVRAM pour y installer la structure de boot. Cela continuera de te proposer les début de disques pour installer le grub.
Je n'ai pas encore regardé le dernier boot-info.
NOTA. Dans un de tes anciens boot-info. J'ai réellement vu une NVRAM contenant ubuntu. Donc ce n'est pas un ordinateur bridé refusant cette modification.
Boot-repair est totalement capable de permuter la structure de boot EFI <=> LEGACY dans les deux sens. Il est inutile de faire des réinstallations.
4) Installe boot-repair
5) Choisis de supprimer le grub et de le réinstaller
a) Tu auras les bonnes commandes de suppression
b) Tu auras la bonne commande d'installation
6 )Tu postes le rapport que tu obtiendras.

Pour ta réponse Boot-repair est totalement capable de permuter la structure de boot EFI <=> LEGACY, quand j'avais fait l'install en mode LEGACY, j'avais fait un boot repair (sans message d'erreur, mais je ne suis pas sur d'avoir mis l'option "purge grub") pour essayer de passer en EFI mais de ce que je me souviens, cela n'avait pas marché

Le message ' /target détecté.' s'affiche lorsque l'installateur Ubuntu a prealablement été démarré. Et cela bloque toute reparation via Boot-Repair.
Donc si vous voulez pouvoir faire une réparation via Boot-Repair, il faut une session live 'fraiche' dans laquelle vous n'avez jamais démarré l'installateur Ubuntu.

Donc Un nouveau boot fait avec le support d''installation de ubuntu dans lequel on installe immédiatement boot-repair.
et qu'on lance dans la foulée puis publication du compte-rendu.
Soit le grub.efi s'installe et c'est réparé. Soit l'installation du grub-efi plante. Dans ce cas, il devrait y avoir le message d'erreur contrairement à l'installation initiale

J'ai du coup dans la foulé fait l'instal depuis la même session et j'ai eu le message " grub-install dev/sda failed".

Ah c'est parce que j'avais virer mon instal en supprimant la partition à l'aide d'un logiciel (c'est comme ça que je fais pour retenter une nouvelle installation).
Ce boot-info a été fait après l'action du boot-repair sur une session Test de Ubuntu, et avant de faire l'installation.

C'était donc irréparable! Il ne te reste plus qu'à réinstaller en ayant bien vérifié que le boot de l'installateur a eu lieu en EFI avant de commencer l'installation avec cette commande
[ -d /sys/firmware/efi ] && echo "Installé en mode EFI" || echo "Installé en mode classique"et tu racontes en joignant un boot info à la fin de l'installation et en cessant de modifier dans tous les sens
