[Résolu] Kernel panic not syncing / suite MaJ LTS 20.04 puis LTS 22.04

Bonjour,

J'ai eu un kernel panic au démarrage de mon ordi, disant en dernière ligne :
"Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) "
sachant qu'avant cela, j'avais une petite phrase dès le démarrage qui disait "mémoire épuise", "appuyer pour continuer"

Je suis sur un IMac de 2014 sous Linux depuis des années.
Je n'utilise que des version LTS.

Le bug est arrivé suite à un MaJ classique sur la version 20.04. (une MaJ d'environ 130Mo si j'ai bonne mémoire... du coup je n'ose pas la faire sur mon PC portable !!! )

Aléatoirement, l'ordi a redémarré après que j'ai tenté un démarrage avec Clé USB Bootable pour Ubuntu. J'ai alors fait un bootrepair ... et fait une installation de Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

Maintenant, à chaque démarrage, l'ordi me demande si je veux démarrer Ubuntu, ou bien aller dans le menu avancé pour choisir quel noyau lancer (ce petit bug est secondaire, mais je veux bien une solution pour ne plus avoir à sélectionner).

MAIS SURTOUT il continue de démarrer aléatoirement ... soit le kernel panic apparait, soit l'ordi démarre...

J'aimerais régler ce problème de kernel panic SVP !!! et pouvoir avoir à nouveau une confiance aveugle dans mon matériel. (et ne pas être sur le qui-vive si ma femme m'appelle en disant que l'ordi ne démarre plus, c'est notre outil de travail au quotidien !!! )

Bonjour.
Il faut télécharger le logiciel. La commande étant

sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends smartmontools 

Puis je ne te demande pas de faire un test mais d'interroger le disque pour lui demander son état. Cela prend  une seconde puis de mettre dans le forum sa réponse .  Ce qui peut prendre une minute.
La commande étant

sudo smartctl  -s on   -a  /dev/sda

Bonjour,
A tout hasard, les problèmes cités pourraient-ils être en relation avec une éventuelle saturation d'une partition (plutôt la partition root) ?
Vu que cette situation (partition root saturée) est relativement fréquente, n'y aurait-il pas intérêt à prévoir un agrandissement de la partition root ?

Oui je pense aussi que la partition a largement assez de place.

J'ai fait hier une mini MàJ de environ 130Ko (je suis sur ubuntu 22.04 actuellement) et A NOUVEAU l'ordi fait ce kernel panic avec l'erreur mémoire juste au démarrage !!! alors que pendant les jours précédants il démarrait normalement.
On dirait que 1 MàJ sur 2 fait buguer la machine.

Puis-je désinstaller la dernière MàJ en date ?

De plus, si vous vous le demandez, quand le GRUB me propose de démarrer avec un mode recovery, ou un noyau plus ancien, (en normal ou en recovery), il ne démarrait pas non plus !

Si quelqu'un a une explication, et surtout une solution ?!?

es-tu certain qu'aucun ancien noyau ne boote en mode recovery?
Normalement, on ne désinstalle pas facilement une mise à jour sauf si installation ZFS.
on boote avec l'ancien noyau qui fonctionne

le grub me propose de booter :
* ubuntu actuel
* ubuntu actuel en recovery
* ubuntu avec noyau plus ancien (5.15...) en mode normal
* ubuntu avec noyau plus ancien (5.15...) en recovery

aucun ne fonctionne !!!

Je ne suis pas un expert, je ne fais que des MàJ via ubuntu quand il me les propose, je ne fais des choses en "mode expert et en mode terminal" que si indispensable (et encore je cherche comment on fait sur le net / ce sont mes vieilles habitudes d'avoir travaillé sous DOS en 1990).

en fait la panne est présente peu importe le noyau utilisé.

Bonjour.
Au point où tu en es, on va utiliser les grands moyens. Virer tous les noyaux et y remettre uniquement le dernier.
Il faudra booter en ligne de commande, installer boot-repair, cliquer sur la case mode-avancé et cocher
Purger les kernels réinstaller le dernier kernel . Tu auras  des lignes de commande à faire en copier/coller.

De mon côté je pense que ton disque n'est pas en si bon état.

Les valeurs 200 et 254 indiquent des problèmes électromécaniques, pas nécessairement graves, mais à surveiller.
Le disque dur serait-il tombé ? Est-ce un ordinateur portable ? Le Pc serait-il souvent transporté et pas toujours avec douceur ?

merci inbox ; pour répondre, c'est un I-Mac 2014, ordi fixe, pas portable, était tombé une fois (écran fissuré) mais n'a jamais eu de souci de fonctionnement jusqu'à ce que je demande de l'aide sur ce forum récemment, avec ce kernel panic qui apparait après une MàJ.
La machine n'est pas transportée ou ballotée...
Je trouve que le problème est trop corrélée aux MàJ de Ubuntu pour me dire que c'est hardware.

geole : je vais tenter les grands moyens dès que j'ai une nuit blanche à passer tongue / plus sérieusement, dès que j'ai le temps devant moi.

Ce matin l'ordi a démarré avec une clé USB bootable , sans sourciller !

geole, je ne peux pas executer bootrepair depuis ma session normale (car l'ordi démarre à partir d'un liveUSB) ?
je dois vraiment booter en ligne de commande ? si oui, je ne trouve pas, dans le page de bootrepair, comment démarrer bootrepair à partir de la ligne de commande... (la page indique de démarrer bootrepair à partir du terminal une fois démarré en session live ) ...

Lis bien le paragraphe 1.2 du document que j ai cité, il dit d utiliser une live-USB
Il faut booter  avec le support dinstallation.
Choisir essayer  ubuntu avant d installer.
Ouvrir un terminal  en frappant sur les touches Ctrl Alt t
puis faire un copier/coller de cette commande

sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair && sudo apt update && sudo apt install -y boot-repair ; boot-repair

et tu te retrouves en mode graphique

j'ai fait la manip, j'ai lancé un bootrepair en mode avancé, j'ai laissé coché ce qui l'est par défaut, j'ai coché "purger les kernel..." ; et ça ne marche pas. j'ai eu le même code erreur qu'au départ.
Je remarque par contre que l'ordinateur démarre sans sourciller lorsque la clé USB live ubuntu est insérée, même s' il ne me propose pas de démarrer dessus. C'est comme s'il ne la détectait pas , mais que sa présence permet à l'ordi de démarrer !!! ??? !!!

dois-je refaire un bootrepair avec des paramètres particuliers ?

même erreur après la réparation bien sûr ! (aucune erreur pendant l'installation)
J'ai fait la réparation, j'ai redémarré l'ordi ... et patatra.
(mémoire épuisée, etc.)
