Je reviens vers la communauté pour poursuivre la recherche de ce qui arrive.
Trois pistes s'offrent à moi et, dans au moins deux, j'ai besoin d'aide (pour la troisième, on m'a déjà transmis un lien).
1. Continuer de chercher ce qui arrive pour le résoudre. @Xubu1957 sèche après les posts #52 et #53
2. Comme le suggère @Tmi, travailler sur les partitions pour ne plus avoir ce genre de soucis à chaque mise à jour. cf #46

Ce qui permet de réinstaller le système "/racine" sans toucher à "Home" pour y retrouver tous ses fichiers .
En tout dernier recours si ta configuration est séparé concernant "/ racine et Home" je te conseil de réinstaller 22.04 avec ton écran externe branché. ->comment faire ça après avoir fait les manip précédentes?
3. revenir à la précédente version d'Ubuntu 20.04, pour ce qui me concerne. Mais cette solution me convient moyennement.

La logique est de faire des mises à niveau.
A mon avis, Si on fait une nouvelle installation, on ne conserve pas le home qui contient maintenant plein de logiciels. Cela veut dire qu'il faut d'abord fabriquer une partition ne contenant que nos données et ne plus avoir de partitions home et swap
Ubuntu DOIT être capable de fonctionner sans écran additionnel! Surtout pour un portable

Merci Geole, je suis bien d'accord avec toi sur le fait que Ubuntu doit fonctionner sans écran additionnel... d'autant que j'ai eu cette expérience pendant de nombreuses années avec cette même machine !
J'ai cependant besoin d'aide pour changer les partitions mais je ne sais pas comment différencier partitions home / swap
Je dois créer combien de partitions, quels volumes pour chacune?
Je ne suis pas inquiet de retrouver les logiciels que j'utilise et de les réinstaller (et puis-je les installer sur une nouvelle partition qui ne changerait plus?)
Beaucoup de questionnements pour ces manip qui pour moi sont bien délicates. Dois-je ouvrir un autre sujet pour ça?

Ce matin, j'ai détecté un autre élément. J'ai dû changer d'écran additionnel et j'ai essayé de compenser le clignotement de mon écran de pc avec un écran de PC, branché aussi en hdmi et ça ne fonctionnait pas.
L'écran avec lequel ça fonctionne est un écran télé.
Je ne sais pas si ça joue dans l'analyse de la situation, mais je le mentionne.
J'ai commencé à chercher comment réinstaller ubuntu en suivant les conseils de @Tmi (cf #46).
Je cite :

Est-ce que quelqu'un d'expérimenter sur le sujet des partitions et des installations peut me guider pas à pas? Je trouve les infos un peu disséminées et je ne le sens pas vraiment.
