RESOLU dual boot

Bonjour

J'étais en dual boot sous ubuntu 22.04 et windows, j'ai installé ubuntu 24.04 et une erreur s'est produite lors de l'installation sans doute du fait que j'avais défini une partition en vfat /boot au lieu de /boot/efi. Ma partition windows a été détruite.
Je suis en train de recopier une vieille sauvegarde de ma partition de windows sur la partition WINDOWS_OS de mon PC.
Une fois cela fait, comment retrouver un dual boot. Pour info, alors que la copie de ma sauvegarde de Windows n'a pas commencé, voici le résultat du bootinfo.

Toujours d'actualité, ce problème ? En tout cas, ton Windows n'a pas été détruit si l'on en croit ce rapport boot-info.

Le menu GRUB est caché :

Remplace en admin la mention. hidden par menu  et mets timeout à 10 avec un éditeur, puis actualise GRUB avec un 

sudo update-grub

Et vois si c'est mieux. Note que boot-repair propose la même chose.

Bonjour , tu parles probablement de la partition windobz EFI ?

Ce n' est pas grave si c' est le cas , ca se reconstruit relativement facilement .
ce qui a l' air d ' etre le cas , puisque :

Par contre , ton disque sda est en table MSDOS , il a une partition etendue , et il semblerait que la nouvelle partition VFAT que tu as créée serait dans dans cette partition étendue ... ( a faire confirmer ) , je ne sais pas comment ce comporte le systeme dans un tel cas .
De plus , on voit que ton systeme demarre en mode legacy :

si c' est le cas pour windobz et ubuntu ( installés en mode LEGACY ) , alors la partition EFI n' a aucun interet .




Bref , selon que windobz est en mode LEGACY ou EFI , il faut regler le BIOS pour que ce soit toujours le cas , ensuite tu fais en sorte que ubuntu se gere dans le meme mode que windobz et que le reglage de ton BIOS .
Puis tu fais ce que t ' as dis l' intervenant précédent . ca devrait résoudre ton soucis .

En y regardant de plus près, je pense que tu devrais aussi commenter l'avant-dernière ligne de ton fichier fstab qui monte abusivement cette partition fat32 :

Je n'ai pas compris ni su que faire avec les indications de iznobe. Désolé
J'ai exécuté boot-repair et cliqué sur "réparation recommandée" sans modifier les options avancées.
L'avant dernière line du fstab a été mise en commentaire par boot-repair.
Concernant le problème efi, si vous le jugez préférable, je pourrais recommencer mon installation from scratch.

J'ai ainsi pu re-démarrer windows et je m'aperçois que j'ai perdu tous mes dossiers. De plus, à l'arrêt de windows, j'ai le message éphémère

Pour réparer ce problème, je pourrais recopier mes vieilles sauvegardes de sda2 ou sda1 dont je dispose sur sdc. Qu'en pensez-vous ?

Salut,

Au vu de l'espace occupé, c'est surprenant que les données ne soient plus présentes 

/dev/sda2              172.3G  58% /media/anne/Windows7_OS

Le système, à ma connaissance, n'occupe pas 172G à lui tout seul.

Pour le reste :

- La partition fat32 créée par l'installation d'Ubuntu ne sert strictement à rien sinon à foutre le bazar (je résume Iznobe). C'est une des âneries de l'installateur depuis la version 24.04. Ça simule une pseudo-installation efi sur un disque ms-dos (ton cas). Perso, sur les disques ms-dos, je conseille de zapper la demande de création de partition efi à l'installation, de n'installer aucun grub, et de laisser faire boot-repair à la fin pour qu'il mette en place les bons fichiers (grub-pc). En agissant ainsi, on n'a jamais de souci.

- Le message bitdeffender est spécifique à Windows... Peut-être en réinstallant l'application. Là, je n'ai pas d'idée.

De mon point de vue, c'est une erreur.

Ton Windows étant installé en mode Legacy, il ne bootera probablement pas.

Attends tout de même l'avis d'autres aidants pour te décider.

Edit. Si tu veux de l'Uefi, mieux vaut convertir le disque en gpt, puis réparer Windows pour qu'il boote dans ce mode  (W7, pas sûr que ça marche), et réparer Ubuntu pour le mode efi. Même pas besoin de réinstaller.

C'est inutile de faire une installation EFI car le grub EFI ne détectera pas windows LEGACY

A ma connaissance, l'outil MBR2GPT n'a pas son équivalent en windows 7 de plus il ne doit y avoir de partitions  non windows dans le disque pour que cela fonctionne.

Reste donc en LEGACY et fait  visualiser le grub.

Nous sommes donc d'accord. Installer Ubuntu en efi n'est pas une bonne idée.

Petite précision tout de même. Windows 7 est parfaitement capable de fonctionner en mode efi. Asus l'a fait un peu avant la sortie de W8. Quant à une éventuelle conversion de legacy vers uefi, elle ne nécessite pas d'utiliser absolument mbr2gpt. Une conversion de disque via gdisk suivie d'une création des fichiers efi via bcdboot pourrait parfaitement faire l'affaire (c'est même préférable d'ailleurs si on veut quelque chose de propre). Mais j'avoue que si je l'ai fait X fois avec W10, je n'ai jamais tenté ça avec Seven.

J'avais fait une demo W8/Ubuntu ici, mais les captures d'écran ayant sauté, ce n'est plus très lisible.

Si je comprends bien, je suis en mode legacy et je ne change rien sur linux.
Mais quel est l'intérêt de efi. Car j'ai une vieille sauvegarde de windows toute seule sur un disque sur lequel je pourrais installer la 22.4, puis migrer en 24.2
