une question qui peut paraitre bete comment on fait pour edit xorg.conf quand on a plus d'interface graphique j'ai essayé sudo gedit (marche pas),et sudo nano me crée un document vierge
je suis vraiment newbie de chez newbie

mon préféré c'est vi:
sudo vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Tu tapes "i" pour passer en mode insertion, tu fais tes modifs, puis tu tapes sur la touche échap, pour revenir en mode normal. Puis tu tapes ":" pour passer en mode commande, et la tu fais "wq" et entrée pour "Write&Quit" ou bien "q!" et entrée pour "Abort&Quit".
EDIT: quand tu es en mode normal tu peux taper "dd" pour effacer la ligne sous le curseur.

par le live cd j'ai vu que les dossiers xorg.conf et xorg.bak etait bien la mais je n'ai pas su avoir les droit en ecriture pour un restauration alors c'est bizzarre qu'il ne me les trouve dans la console au depart d'ubuntu et je me vois mal tout recopier a la main...

ah oui! X11 c'est la version du protocole, c'est un nombre
protocole X version 11 release 7.1
C'est le protocole de communication utilisé entre le serveur graphique et toutes les applications clientes.
Stemp a raison, tu as mis des "l" à la place des "1" dans X11

Vraiment, tu ne trouves rien en tapant
ls /etc/X11
??
Si vraiment tu ne retrouves pas ton fichier xorg et que tu n'as absolument aucune sauvegarde, essaie la commande que je donne au post #199, ça te redonnera un fichier à partir duquel travailler.

je suis sous une Fedora core 5 depuis un mois j'ai essayer avec l'aide de la communauté Fedora de résoudre mon problème d'acceleration 3D sur une carte graphique ATI Mobility Radeon 7500. j'ai même envisagé de passer sur Ubuntu (qui ne s'installait malheureusement pas sur mon portable) j'ai réinstaller la fedora résigné a travailler sans acceleration.
en tombant sur ce tuto j'ai suivi à la lettre et du score ridicule que j'avais à glxgears j'ai des scores tournant autour de 1000.
je tiens donc à remercier la communauté Ubuntu pour son implication dans la promotion du libre et d'avoir traité ce problème qui semblait "insoluble". je remercie en particulier Stemp pour son how-to.

(Sous Dapper, souris bègue, pas de 3D , 500 frames in 5.0 seconds = 100 FPS... )
1ere fois que Ubuntu me met dans une impasse ...

j'ai un disque dur en rab, je vais faire des tests dessus, pour trouver chaussures à mon pied.

vu le dynanisme de la communauté Ubuntu, j'envisage de passer de l'autre coté de la force:D. j'ai cru comprendre en lisant les post que la Dapper n'était pas des plus stable, donc pourquoi ne pas utiliser la Breezy, d'ou ma question: ce tuto fonctionne t-il aussi avec la Breezy?
et aiglx fonctionne t-il aussi avec la Breezy (je sais que c'est un post une question, si ça derange faites le moi savoir et j'éditerai le post)?

je suis en pleine 1ère install et comme j'ai une carte ATI Technologies Inc du modèle Radeon RV200 QW [Radeon 7500]...
jai tout lu mais je sais pas trop quoi faire (parce que je comprends pas tout)
Mon problème cest que mon installation accepte bien le 1280x1024 mais que l'espace de travail n'occcupe que 75% de l'écran et que la fréquence de rafraichissement proposée ne va pas au dela de 60Hz
que dois je faire ?

Je lutte pour faire fonctionner mon carte graphique de manière efficace (autre que affichage 2D)
Mon pc :
Piv 3.2GHz
Asus P5AD2-e prenium (chipset 925xe + ich6r)
Radéon PCI-Express X850 XT (R480 5D52)
DD en sérial ATA
Mon nux installé :
linux-xx- 2.6.15.25-686 (image + restricted)
FGLRX (driver + control) installé => marche surtout pas
ATI driver (du site) installé => marche pas top
Quand je vais les manip indiquées, soit cela fait rien de spécial soit mon kubuntu ne lance plus KDE (comprendre qu'il y a que la console qui fonctionne et un restor du xorg.conf qui permet de relancer KDE.
Existe-t-il un tutorial à jour pour les cartes PCI-Express ? (à chaque fois je vois qu'il faut ajouter le port AGP ... j'en ai pas chez moi )
D'où pourrait venir mon problème ?
Comment le résoudre ?
[HS] (lire hors sujet) Existe-t-il un tuto qui indique les éléments "critiques" de linux et les fichiers système qu'on peut modifier ( à l'image de xorg.conf ou /etc/modules ) [/HS]

donc en gros pas d'otions du tout , j'ai même viré la définition de la taille de la ram de la carte, je laisse le driver se débrouiller... Ah je suis aussi en 24 bits pour la profondeur, sinon pas de nwn... avec glxgears -printfps je passe à 1500~1800... Quand on peut faire simple...
Si vous avez bidouillé un peu les options pour avoir celles qui boostent bien, je suis preneur, merci
Si vous avez encore des soucis d'accélération 3d, courage, la pente est forte mais la route est droite...

Comme on n'est bien servi que par soi même, je vous poste mes bidouilles avec les options :

L'option qui booste tout c'est enablepageflip, je passe de ~1500 à ~2300 dans glxgears... Le reste ne semble pas changer grand chose, le problème de pageflip (chez moi en tout cas : portable medion + radeon 9000 mobility) c'est que l'image est moins belle (des petits traits apparaissent parfois) et que le carte chauffe très vite (petit bruit aigüe de la carte qui a chaud et le ventilo qui tourne à fond), d'où l'essai de l'option dynamic clock, qui n'a pas diminué les performances, est-ce que ça permet vraiment de diminuer la température du gpu ?
Pour finir un lien qui va bien (je l'ai piqué sur ce fil...) : http://ftp.x.org/pub/X11R7.0/doc/html/radeon.4.html pour les options... Attention toutes ne sont pas documentées...
Une dernière chose, chez moi il ne suffit pas de sortir de la session gnome, il faut relancer le système pour que les changements soient effectifs... Mais j'ai peut-être loupé quelque chose là (ctrl+alt+backspace ?)...:rolleyes:
