Tu n'as pas ce problème sans Bumblebee ? Dans ce cas, peux-tu poster le contenu du fichier kern.log just après un crash, ainsi que celui du fichier Xorg.0.log ?

On a beaucoup de problèmes avec tout ce qui est multi-écrans et sorties vidéos il est vrai, et ce n'est pas près de s'arranger car aucun de nous ne dispose d'un écran externe pour faire des tests.

Le "Failed to submit batch buffer" a l'air d'apparaître très régulièrement, même quand je fais rien. Je pense pas que ça soit directement lié à mon problème de crash.
Je n'ai pas ce problème sans Bumblebee.

Hola tout le monde,

Je viens d'acheter un pc LDLC Saturne Intel Core i5-2410M,  4 Go de mémoire DDR3,  NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M (1 Go de mémoire dédiée - DX 11) (http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00111812.html)
sans OS car je souhaite me lancer dans ubuntu...en tombant sur ce topic, et en lisant (ou tentant de traduire) les 19 pages consacrées, je commence de regretter mon achat et me demande si je ne vais pas retourner le pc pour soit en prendre un avec windows ( et eventuellement mettre ubuntu en // mais adieu la garantie alors?) soit un avec une autre carte graphique (en sachant que je ne joue pas au jeux vidéos mais que j'aime bien avoir une belle qualité d image pour les films)! hmm bouh ! en tout cas chapeau pour tout le travail que vous faites, c'est super !

Kernel, purge, PPA ... c'est du chinois pour moi, je comptais apprendre petit à petit mais visiblement il faut tout de suite se lancer dans des manips compliquées pour pouvoir faire fonctionner le machin Optimus. Et ça me fait peur!! Pour une débutante complète je ne sais pas si c'est vraiment conseillé...n'ayant pas du tout l'habitude de travailler avec une invits de commande (je ne sais même pas si cela s'appelle comme ça)?

En plus, ce n'est pas sure que le logiciel Bumblebee soit compatible la marque de mon pc c'est ça?
Il me semble aussi lire que la prise HDMI du coup ne fonctionne pas? Car mon pc est toujours branché sur ma télé qd je regarde des films.
Je comptais installer ubuntu 11.04 version 64 bits.

Je suis pleine de bonne volontée mais là j'avoue que je suis refroidie...(voire congelée).

Que me conseillez vous?

colaur, si tu te contentes de regarder des films sans jouer, je te conseillerais de retourner ton PC pour en prendre un dépourvu de carte graphique dédiée. Le circuit graphique intégré dans la série de processeurs Core ix d'Intel (Comme l'i5 de ton PC) est à ma connaissance suffisant pour décoder des flux full HD sans perte de "qualité d'image" (qui dépendra plutôt, à mon avis, de la qualité de la source -fichier, dvd, blu-ray...- et de l'écran). Tu y gagneras financièrement en t'épargnant au passage les aléas liés à l'intégration d'Optimus sous linux. smile

Merci eternal404, je crois que c'est ce que je vais faire. Je n'avais aucune idée de ce qu'était une carte graphique dédiée avant l'achat (merci les vendeurs!), au moins cela m'aura appris qqchose!
C'est hors topic du coup, mais savez vous à qui je pourrais demander qq conseils avisés pour mon achat du coup et être sur d'acheter un pc compatible linux...?

Si tu veux être sur à 100% sans te prendre trop la tête, tu peux chercher des pc plus ou moins certifiés linux ou ubuntu, comme chez Clevo.
Sinon évite les pc dotés d'une carte graphique dédiée plus processeur intel iX, comme dit plus haut.
Tu peux aussi vérifier dans la doc ubuntu que les differents composants (carte wifi, webcam, etc...) sont bien reconnus.

En fait le truc, c'est qu'on ne trouve pas de Intel i5 sans carte graphique dédiée et peu de i3...après s'il s'agit d'une autre carte graphique (genre AMD) sans la technologie optimus peut être que ça peut être compatible avec linux?...je n'ai pas eu que des bons échos de Clevo...

Tu peux regarder parmi les pc portables pro, il y en a pas mal qui n'ont pas de carte graphique dédiée...
(dell, thinkpad...)
si tu en trouve avec un i3, pour les films / internet / bureautique ça suffit largement. J'ai un i5 et pour tous ces usages je le bride à 40% de la fréquence max pour gagner en autonomie... donc un i3 devrait largement suffire, sachant que c'est la même génération de carte graphique intel sur tous les iX actuels.
Après pour les cartes graphiques amd, le problème va être le même.
En fait intel intègre sa carte graphique à ses processeurs, après ce sont les constructeurs de carte graphique qui essaient de contourner ça via des systèmes comme optimus ou autre, pas très compatibles linux. Donc des que tu auras un processeur intel récent, il y aura forcément une astuce bizarre pour rajouter une CG dédiée en plus de la intel.

Par contre avec les processeurs amd il n'y a pas de problème je crois. Pour une utilisation films- internet, tu peux regarder des pc à base de amd E-350 ou 450,, j'ai lu que ça pouvais être pas mal pour des petites config (ça restera assez faiblard pour du gros multi tache...) je ne sais pas ce que valent les autres processeurs amd, mais a prix égal, ça devrait valoir plus ou moins les intel.

edit: après un tour sur le site d'intel , il existe bien des i3 sans carte graphique intégrée, les i3 2330m. Les pc équipés devraient etre disponible sans optimus, et donc compatible linux... néanmoins les plus courants sont les 2310m si je ne m'abuse...

Donc un processeur i3 avec une CG AMD ou nVidia dédiée par ex mais sans machin optimus (parce que la technologie optimus n'est pas systématique), ça sera le même bazar que décrit ici?

Clevo vend des ordis avec optimus certifié ubuntu...ca me laisse un doute quant à leur sérieux hmm

Il y a des pcs avec processeurs iX ou AMD et une CG différente sans optimus. C'est compatible linux donc?

Si tu installe Ubuntu en dual-boot avec Windows, tu ne perds pas la garantie.
De toute façon, dans un monde tel que le notre, tu es obligé de garder Windows, ce serait-ce que pour les solutions professionnelles qui sont encore (et malheureusement) majoritairement développées uniquement pour Windows (vois Mac OS pour quelques rares cas).

je suis en possession d'un DELL Latitude E6520 N.
L'installation de Bumblebee via les PPA s'est très bien déroulée. Merci aux mainteneurs !!

Je voudrais maintenant activer la gestion d'énergie.

Comment puis-je faire pour connaitres les appels ACPI adéquats ?

@colaur: Bienvenue dans le monde Linux... On aimerait que tout marche, malheureusement c'est pas toujours aussi simple. Effectivement, pour ce qui est d'Optimus, je suggérerais de revenir dans quelques années.

Pour ce qui est de la lecture de film, l'architecture et l'intégration des puces graphiques dans les processeurs Intel Core iX 2xxx est telle que les performances en lecture vidéo sont supérieurs à celle des cartes graphiques dédiées généralement. Après, encore une fois, pas sûr que tout soit parfaitement supporté sous Linux de ce point de vue, mais en tout cas suffisamment pour que tu regardes n'importe quel film sans aucun problème.

Je te suggère donc de prendre le même sans la carte nVidia, LDLC faisait cela jusqu'à très récemment, mais je viens de découvrir en cherchant le modèle correspondant que ce n'est plus le cas. Je te laisse chercher de ce côté : http://bons-constructeurs-ordinateurs.info/ (une liste des pratiques de chaque constructeur vis-à-vis des OS, que ce soit pour leur présence ou à défaut le remboursement).

Sinon, je serais ravi de t'aider pour configurer pas-à-pas ton système, mais dans la mesure où il est inadapté à ton usage, en changer reste la meilleure solution.

@yanapu: Comme tu peux le voir, il est dans la liste de ceux pour lesquels il me manque des infos. Si tu peux suivre la procédure d'envoi à la fin de mon premier post, j'essayerais de te donner tes appels d'ici mecredi.

Pour Badjojo : Clevo ? Certifié Linux ? Ils s'autocertifient, le vendeur m'a dit qu'il ne connaissait rien à Linux mais qu'on lui avait dit que ça marchait avce Ubuntu, résultat un bel Optimus qui m'e...
Dommage car par ailleurs c'est une belle machine.

Pour ArchangeGabriel, avec la dernière mouture de Bumblebeee version Debian sur mon Clevo B5100 ça passe bien, pas de pb actuellement.

Juste pour savoir, car au fond ça a aucune importance, les Leds qui sont censées m'indiquer quelle carte graphique travaille continuent à indiquer n'importe quoi.

@PhilippeM: Les LEDs, c'est un truc géré par ACPI, c'est un petit truc gadget en gros, et très peu de modèle en sont équipés. Si je peux avoir accès aux tables ACPI de l'un d'entre eux et avoir la possibilité de tester des appels, ça pourra se faire (mais pas tout de suite, j'ai des choses beaucoup plus importantes à faire).

De toute facon je me suis faite avoir, je ne peux pas ramener le pc au magasin (le délai de rétractation ne marche que pour la vente a correspondance). J'ai donc un pc neuf sur les bras dont je ne sais que faire...j'ai même pas de OS windows...youpi.

Dommage, j'avais passé la journée hier à chercher un pc de remplacement et j'avais enfin trouvé ce matin hmm

Bonjour colaur,
Tu peux toujours utiliser ce pc. Ce n'est la marque du PC qui compte pour utiliser Bumblebee mais le type de carte graphique, et Bumblebee fonctionne sur ta carte. Il y a au moins deux utilisateurs sur cette discussion qui ont la même.

J'ai un PC Giada N10U, non équipé d'Optimus et la sortie HDMI ne fonctionne pas non plus sur ma TV, donc ce n'est absolument pas sûr qu'avec un PC sans Optimus la prise aurait fonctionné.
Si ta TV est récente, ce que je pense puisque équipé d'un port HDMI elle doit avoir une prise VGA comme sur les écrans d'ordinateur, à ce moment tu as juste besoin d'un câble VGA pour relier ton PC à ta TV. L'ennuie c'est que tu n’auras pas le son sur la TV, mais sur l'ordinateur.
Pourquoi ne pas tout simplement faire lire les films directement  par la TV en branchant un disque dure externe formaté en NTFS.

D'après ce que j'ai compris, même si on installe Bumbeblee sur le pc et que ca marche, on ne pourra tjs pas éteindre la carte nVidia dédiée, donc ca consomme de la batterie pour rien (ou du courant). Et l'autonomie sur un portable...c'est important.
L'appli pour éteindre la carte est encore trop instable visiblement (merci pour l'explication badjojo!).

Et j'aime bidouiller un peu l'info mais la c'est un peu trop pour moi, surtout si je dois faire ca a chaque fois que je formate le pc ou que je change de version ... hmm
J'ai été trop gourmande sur cet achat pour mon utilisation...je vais essayer de le revendre sinon ben faudra que je prenne mon mal en patience.
J'avais déjà jeté mon dévolu sur un airis NB1104B, au moins la pas de pb avec ubuntu, bouh :'(

Je viens de trouver pourquoi les ports HDMI des mes ordinateurs ne fonctionnaient pas. Ma TV est équipées de 4 prises HDMI, dont une seule est DVI. Il fallait seulement brancher les ordinateurs sur cette prise.
L'affichage est bon, stable, le son passe. Je n'ai pas eu besoin d'avoir recours à Bumblebee.

@colaur: la gestion de l'énergie fonctionne sous Bumblebee. Il te faut activer l'option comme indiqué dans le premier post. Tu peux aussi interdire l'usage de la carte nvidia quand le PC est sur batterie. Dans ce cas si tu lance une application avec optirun elle sera exécutée sur la carte Intel.
Si tu actives la gestion de l'énergie la carte nvidia n'est allumée que lorsque tu en as besoin.
