[résolu] Résolution d'écran pour carte graphique Nvidia 6200
Après installation de Ubuntu 5.04, la résolution de mon écran reste à 1024x768 et je ne suis pas arrivé à la faire passer à 1280x1024, après avoir TOUT essayé.
Ma config est :
Carte Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9 (Nforce4)
Carte graphique GeForce6200 Turbocache
1 GB RAM
Ecran Viewsonic LCD 19" VX900
Le pilote Nvidia fourni dans la distri Ubuntu est installé et effectivement utilisé (le logo Nvidia apparaît bien au moment du lancement du serveur X). Ceci dit, avec le pilote nv ou nvidia, je n’arrive de toute façon pas à changer la résolution, même en ajoutant à la main
Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
dans la section "Display" de la partie « Screen » du fichier /etc/X11/xorg.conf, comme cela est recommandé dans pas mal de posts.
Après avoir regardé dans le fichier /var/log/Xorg.0.log (ci-dessous), je m’aperçoit que l’écran est bien déclaré compatible avec la résolution demandée (1280x1024, puisque ça marche bien sous Windows ou d’autre distri Linux), mais le système refuse d’implémenter cette résolution car :
« (II) NVIDIA(0): Not using default mode "1280x1024" (hsync out of range) »
Le système va même jusqu’à déclarer dans Xorg.0.log:
(II) NVIDIA(0): Not using mode "1280x1024" (no mode of this name) » !…

Sinon, le lancement de la config de xorg en passant par la ligne de commande
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserveur-xorg
n’a rien donné de plus, car la liste des résolutions affichées dans le menu est toujours bloquée à 1024x768, 800*600 et 64x480 et à ce moment-là aucune action sur le clavier ne permet d’implémenter les autres résolutions.
De même, le remplacement des lignes suivantes dans xorg.conf

n’a fait que planter le serveur X… donc retour à l’ancien xorg.conf et je reste toujours en 1024x768
Je n'ai jamais eu ce pb avec d'autres distri Linux.

J'ai moi aussi chercher sur le forum pour avoir les bons drivers et reglages nVidia.
Je pense que : http://wiki.ubuntu-fr.org/materiel/optimisation_nvidia (et le lien qu'il contient sur une bonne installation du driver) peut-t-etre utile.

Merci pour tes réponses, j'ai regardé le lien que tu m'as indiqué mais je ne suis pas sûr que cela peut m'aider : en fait, au début je tournais avec le pilote nv par défaut et je n'arrivai pas à augmenter la résolution de l'écran à 1280x1024, quelle que soit la méthode employée. J'ai donc installé le driver Nvidia (celui de la distrib Ubuntu 5.04) ce qui s'est déroulé sans pb,(aprs avoir effectivement tapé ; "sudo nvidia-glx-config enable") puisque j'avais même l'interface graphique du configurateur Nvidia , laquelle permet donc de changer tout un tas de paramètres, sauf la résolution justement. Donc la mise en place du diver Nvidia ne m'a pas permi de résoudre mon pb (enfin, c'est que je constate).
Sinon, quand on regarde mon var/log/Xorg.0.log, on s'aperçoit que l'execution du module DDC fait le tri de toutes les résolutions possibles et fini par garder que celles qu'il juge valides, dont il garde la plus haute, c-à- 1024x768.
Je pense qu'il y a forcément une option à paramétrer quelque part dans le xorg.conf afin d'éviter qu'il ne fasse le tri entre les différentes résolutions et qu'il les autorise toutes, à l'utilisateur de choisir ensuite celle qu'il veut. Peût-être aller faire un tour dans le manuel de xorg.conf pour essayer de comprendre la syntaxe... je sais pas... A+

Sinon, pour essayer d'améliorer, j'ai essayé avec ce xorg.conf modifié en ajoutant "1280x1024" dans la section MODES de SCREEN et en mettant les specs issues de Xorg.0.log dans la section MODELINE de MONITOR). Mais cela a planté le serveur X (message en mode texte sur fond bleu qui me disait que X ne pouvait pas se lancer, etc...) :

Salut michel2652,
Eh bien j'ai modifié mon xorg.conf avec les infos de l'écran Huyndai que tu m'as communiqué : ça marche !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Je peux passer en 1280x1024. Quant à savoir pourquoi cela ne marche pas avec le setup d'origine, je crois que c'est la ligne MODELINE qui fait tout.
Pour glxgears, il y a bien les petites roues qui tournent et cela me donne jusqu'à 22386 frames in 5.0 seconds = 4477.200 FPS. Je ne sais pas ce que ça représente : j'imagine que c'est une mesure de la performance de la carte GeForce 6200 (entrée de gamme 64 Mbits qui utilise la mémoire de la carte mère jusqu'à 256 MBits).
Encore merci, c'est toujours super quand ça fini par tourner !

j'ai eu le même problème, deux jours que je cherchais !
Pour le résoudre j'ai modifié xorg.conf et dans la section de l'écran j'ai rajouter la ligne :
DisplaySize 376 301
(et non modeline qui ne resolvait pas mon problème)
Voilà, j'espère que cela servira à d'autre
