[Réglé] Install Radeon X1600 AGP

Bonjour à tous

J'ai très récemment installé Edgy sur mon PC: core 2 duo, chipset VIA et radeon x1600 (sur port AGP donc).

J'ai tout d'abord suivi ce document -> http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/fglrx ... sans succès ... pas grave me dis-je, vais allez voir chez ATI, je suis donc la doc officielle d'ATI à la lettre -> https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/linux_8.33.6-inst.html ... même punition, toujours pas d'accélération 3D.

Pas plus bête qu'un autre, je me dis: "j'ai du oublier qq chose" je reprends calmement http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/fglrx ... mais rien à faire.

Je sèche complètement et ne sais par quel bout prendre le "truc" et devant la complexité pour installer la moindre chose sur Ubuntu (même BMPx ne s'installe pas chez moi, pourtant pas faute d'avoir suivi le tuto).
Moi qui croyait que mes 3 années passées a administrer un serveur web (Debian) m'aiderait ... je commence à regretter Windows...j'essaye de rester zen, mais j'aimerais bosser avec mon PC

Enfin deux détails qui peuvent être utile:
1- le log de Xorg affiche notamment la chose suivante:

(WW) fglrx(0): Kernel Module version does *not* match driver.
(EE) fglrx(0): incompatible kernel module detected - HW accelerated OpenGL will not work

2- la version de mon kernel -> 2.6.17-10-generic

c'est un probleme de modules,bizarre normalement sous edgy "linux-header , "linux-image" et "linux restricted-modules" sont activés.
A verifier sous synaptic.
sinon installer la dapper et activer ces modules en 686(bi-core) dapper plus stable.
ou installer le driver proprietaire ati,adresse:

je pourrais, mais d'une part rien ne me certifie que une fois dapper installé mon ATI fonctionnera (je confirme que c'est une AGP ... pour l'anecdote, ma carte mere n'a pas de bus PCIexpress) et d'autre part downgrader Ubuntu ne me semble pas la meilleure alternative.

pour savoir si on est en 3D,dans un terminal:

ps:ils devrait revoir leur wiki sur cette ligne ,de l'expliquer et de la mettre a part.
& sudo aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv
cette ligne ne sert que pour l'amd 64 bits.

en revanche j'ai un nouveau probleme, j'ai pu changer de résolution juste après avoir redemarré ... mais je ne peux désormais plus la modifier ... la section screen n'a pourtant pas été modifié :-/

connaitre la synchro horizontale et verticale du monitor ,choisir votre resolution et le driver "fglrx"
faire un backup de votre fichier xorg.conf.
& sudo dpkg-reconfigur xserver xserver-xorg

... il semble toutefois que j'ai crié victoire un peu vite:
->glxgears -printfps
1253 frames in 5.0 seconds = 250.455 FPS
1250 frames in 5.0 seconds = 249.998 FPS

certes une X1600 ce n'est pas le dernier cri, mais ça me semble très loin de ce que j'ai pu lire ici ou là ... qu'en penses-tu ?

enfin qu'entends-tu par:

...si vous êtes en 32bits , pour les 64bits...

... tu parles du processeur ?

A revoir pour la 3D.
& sudo aticonfig --initial -f (f=en force)

au cas,si vous avez un message d'erreur,le repertoire "/etc/apt/" est surchargé en fichiers xorg.conf.000
suprimer les.

c'est cette ligne de commande qui a foutu la m....
sudo aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv

& sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
puis
& sudo aticonfig --initial -f

malheureusement ça ne fonctionne plus (si tant est que cela est fonctionné un jour)

je jette l'éponge, 3 jours pour faire fonctionner une malheureuse carte graphique c'est trop pour moi mais avant de revenir sur Win, je vais tenter de trouver une autre distro

Essayer la dapper ubuntu,c'est la plus stable des versions ubuntu (LTS) support a long terme(8 ans),se servir du wiki pour la 3D,sans cette ligne:
& sudo aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv
je suis sous dapper,apres avoir virer edgy et feisty.
il ne faut pas baisser les bras.

tu me conseilles de "nettoyer" le MBR au préalable ou un simple formatage des partitions lors de l'install de dapper suffira ?

Pour le mbr ,c'est plust propre (bien que pas tellement necessaire) et un formatage de partition ou va s'installer ubuntu vraiment necessaire.dapper ne formate le hd,elle(il) écrase les données,donc fragmentation.

je viens de réinstaller Edgy (fresh install) car je ne parviens pas à installer dapper !! -> http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=93730

j'ai donc suivi -> http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/materiel/ati_proprietaire en omettant la dernière ligne comme tu me l'as conseillé (sudo aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv)

redemarrage

je viens de réinstaller Edgy (fresh install) car je ne parviens pas à installer dapper !!

pourquoi et a quelle adresse avez vous telechargé l'iso.

les tutos ne sont pas jour,pourquoi vous n'avez pas repris mes adresses ??? du 01/02/2007, à 22:42.en faisant une variante sur les numeros de version du driver ati.

ou installer la feisty herd-3,la 3D est activée lors de l'installation,comme la debian etch.
la herd-4 devrait sortir dans 15 jours et apres la finale, mois d'avril.
faire un formatage de la partition.
