Bonjour à tous !
Ceci est un appel au secours ! Je suis en train de terminer les corrections de mon mémoire, avec une date butoir qui se rapproche de plus en plus, et je ne peut quasiment plus utiliser libreoffice, il plante en permanence.
J'utilisais Libreoffice 4.0.quelquechose sous ubuntu 12.10. qui me posait par ailleurs un certain nombre de problèmes. Je décide donc aujourd'hui de revenir sous une install neuve de la 12.04. me disant que ça réglerait entre autres le problème de libreoffice, mais non... Pourtant c'est Libreoffice 3.5.7.2.
Quelques précisions :
Mon document est très long, plus de 250 pages, mais contient très peu d'images (peut être 15 ou 20). Par contre, j'ai de nombreux extraits d'entrevue dans des tableaux, une cinquantaine peut être. Il semble que les plantages soient très très fréquents quand je touche au texte des tableaux. À certains endroits ou moment c'est systématique.
Je ne sais plus quoi faire, je suis complètement découragée, et je ne peux plus travailler, ce qui est extrêmement problématique vu le délais qu'il me reste. Est-ce que quelqu'un aurait une idée de l'origine du problème ? Est-ce que ça pourrait être lié au grand nombre de tableaux ?

Tu peux commencer par renommer le fichier libreoffice qui est dans ton fichier caché .config.
En redémarrant libreoffice ça va en créer un vierge.
Si ça ne résout pas ton problème, il y a la solution d'un document-maître voir ici une présentation. Ce n'est pas trop simple, il faut faire attention à ne pas détruire ton fichier actuel et donc partir d'un nouveau document et copier tes chapitres dans des sous-documents. Ensuite il va falloir voir ce qui arrive aux numéros de pages, à la table des matières, aux index...

Salut.
J'ai fait la manip de renommer le fichier libreoffice dans .config, ça n'a rien changé. Et je suis maintenant sous une installation fraîche avec un libreoffice tout neuf aussi donc je me doutais bien que le problème venait de mon fichier, d'autant plus qu'il est passé un certain nombre de fois sous Word et sous Libreoffice...
Je vais essayer ce fameux document maître.

Bonjour,
Tu peux essayer ça : (pas garanti)
Dans libreoffice Outils → Options → LibreOffice → Mémoire : diminuer le nombre d'annulations, augmenter la mémoire utilisée pour les images et la mémoire par objet … Et faire plusieurs sauvegardes !

Alors je suis passés sous la dernière version stable, la 3.6.5 comme le suggérait mloupiot, mais les problèmes persistent.
Je n'ai pas tenté le document maître, me disant que ce serait un peu complexe vu que je suis à la fin de mon travail, par contre j'ai saucissonné mon doc par chapitres, et les problèmes persistent encore... Toujours en particulier quand je travaille dans les tableaux et quand je change les styles.
J'ai sectionné en deux mon plus gros chapitre (chapitre d'analyse), et même sur un document de moins de 80 pages ça plante en permanence.
Je ne sais plus quoi faire... Je dois déposer dans 15 jours, et ces plantages répétitifs me ralentissent énormément.
Si je n'arrive pas à régler le problème je vais devoir aller travailler sur les ordis de l'université, sous windows et word, et ça me tente vraiment pas, d'autant plus que ça va tout me fucker ma mise en page....
Help ! Quelqu'un a une autre idée / conseil ?
C'est quand même fou que ça plante autant, je sais pas comment font les gens qui travaillent sous libreoffice s'ils ont les même problèmes. Peut être que le problème vient d'ailleurs ? Carte graphique ? CPU ?

- En lançant l'ouverture de ton fichier par libreoffice en ligne de commande, tu auras les messages d'erreur précis qui apparaîtront dans le terminal.
- Autre piste : dès qu'il y a problème graphique, lire et copier ici les réponses de dmesg.
EDIT : enregistres-tu en .doc ou en .docx ?
- Quand tu lances MS word et avant d'ouvrir ton fichier, il y a des options de compatibilité... pas claires pour le non-spécialiste, mais à tester.
- De fait, vu l'urgence, à ta place, j'enregistrerais le document sous une seule suite bureautique (celle qui, à l'impression, respecte ta mise en page et tes numérotations de puces et pages, index, tables des matières etc.), office OU libreoffice. Quitte à n'enregistrer que dans de tout petits fichiers .txt (ex "p. 243, §2 : (...)") les modif que tu es amenée à faire dans l'intervalle.

- Chez moi, le crénage des caractères par Word97 n'est toujours pas reconnu par Libreoffice.
EDIT 3 : La première chose à faire quand tu crées un fichier important OU quand tu changes de machine, est de créer ton style de base puis de le renommer, tant sous ms office que libreoffice.
Faute de quoi, le style dit "standard" sous la machine x est différent sous la machine y, ce qui met toute ta mise en forme par terre.
C'est ce message (et il donne une solution partielle et temporaire) qui m'a rappelé cette évidence :

Il y a un problème avec les styles on dirait. Si tu renommes ton fichier (ou plutôt une copie) en .zip, que tu ouvres cette archive et en supprimes le fichier styles.xml puis refermes l'archive et la renommes en .odt, alors ton document s'ouvre sans problème. Mais évidemment il faut refaire tous les styles personnalisés.
Donc, vu l'urgence, si tu utilises encore le style standard, tente ceci :
- crée le style "standard_mon_memoire", identique à ton style standard.
- personnalise-le, et note à la main TOUTES ses caractéristiques et emporte cette note partout.
- quand tu vas sur un autre ordi, commence par créer ce style, AVANT d'ouvrir ton mémoire.
- NB : TOUS les styles de ton fichier doivent être définis sur la base du même style standard personnalisé.
Cela ne résoudra pas toutes les incompatibilités, mais ça diminuera grandement le nombre des problèmes et je crois bien que ça évitera l'emballement de ton cpu.
Cela ne te dispense pas d'enregistrer tes modif textuelles en .txt par sécurité.

zou@zou-ThinkPad-T420s:~$ - J'ai toujours travaillé en .odt, mais certaines parties de mon document sont passées plusieurs fois dans word en suivi des corrections pour que ma prof puisse travailler dessus. Apparemment ils ne peuvent pas faire ce qu'ils veulent avec leurs ordis bien que je lui ai proposée de lui installer le plugin de compatibilité pour qu'elle puisse travailler avec des .odt. J'enregistrais donc mon document en .doc et quand je le récupérais je réenregistrais en .odt. De nombreux problèmes doivent venir de là j'imagine. Mais dans les dernières corrections je n'ai pas utilisé sa version et j'ai intégré commentaires et correction à mon .odt en parallèle. Ce qui est étrange c'est que les problèmes s'enchaînent depuis, alors qu'avant avec les .doc convertis je n'avais que très peu de bugs.
- Je viens d'aller lire le message 6 de la discussion que tu indiques, j'ai un peu de mal à suivre mais il ne semble pas que j'ai un problème de crénage des caractères.
- J'ai reconstruit plusieurs fois mon fichier et depuis deux jours j'ai tout refait les styles depuis 0, mais sur le document existant. Je devrai partir d'un document neuf et coller mon texte sans mise en forme c'est ça si je comprends bien ?
Je vais essayer de faire ça et je vous reviens là dessus.

Je n'avais pas lancé mon fichier avec cette commande. (Je ne suis pas encore experte du terminal)
Je ne voulais pas essayer la solution du fichier zipé parce que je me serai retrouvée avec un texte brut. Mais je suis finalement repartie d'un document vierge où j'ai défini tous les styles par avance, comme tu le suggérait, puis j'ai collé toutes mes parties à la main, sans formatage, et j'ai tout ré appliqué les styles... Ça m'a pris 5h... et me voilà avec un document qui à l'air de ne pas buger.
En général je laisse le moniteur système ouvert oui, puis quand libreoffice gèle je tue le soffice.bin qui me bouffe tout le cpu. Le système ne gèle pas en général (ça arrive quand même une ou deux fois par jours), c'est que Libreoffice qui gèle.
J'ai lancé mon fichier (celui qui posait problème, pas le nouveaux) comme tu me l'expliquais puis j'ai fait geler Libreoffice, et je l'ai tué dans un autre terminal via top, k

Cinq heures seulement pour remettre en forme 250 pages... ça me laisse rêveur..., et je te tire mon chapeau !
Si le pb se manifeste de nouveau, ET que dans le dossier, tu trouves, APRES femeture de libreoffice, un fichier caché (rendu visible par Ctrl H)
.~lock.mon_fichier.doc#
essaie ceci : renomme-le avant de rouvrir libreoffice.
Il reste beaucoup de choses qui m'échappent dans ton dmesg.
J'ai aussi des soupçons sur le bouton "navigateur" de libreoffice. Et sur son équivalent dans Word97. Bouton qui s'appelait à l'époque "explorateur de document" : si on avait le malheur de ne pas le désactiver entre l'ouverture de word et l'ouverture du .doc, c'est word97 qui réattribuait à sa guise tous les styles du fichier ! Appliqué aux gros fichiers, une parfaite source de crise de nerfs !

C'est un mémoire de géographie sur les pratiques socio-spatiales des personnes itinérantes (SDF) dans les quartiers centraux de Montréal (je suis française mais j'ai atteri ici il y a 4 ans). Un peu spécial comme sujet, ça se rapproche beaucoup de la socio ou de l'anthropo mais la perspective géographique de la chose est intéressante car assez peu documentée, notamment pour Montréal.
Je suis actuellement dans la douloureuse attente d'une éventuelle dernière correction et d'un dépôt final, je bois du tit punch pour aider ahah.
Merci encore pour ton aide, et merci à tous ceux qui m'ont aidé sur le forum depuis 3-4 ans.

Je vois que beaucoup de lignes indiquent 64 bits, est-ce que je devrai passer à une distro en 64 bits ? Si ton but était de m'aider à optimiser ma config logicielle je ne dirais pas non
D'ailleurs le ventilo commence à me gonfler, j'ai cru comprendre que c'était un problème récurrent sur les Thinkpads. J'en ai des acouphènes... j'avais installé Thinkfan à un moment donné mais je m'y connais pas assez pour optimiser la configuration.
Le PC chauffe pas mal en vidéo et pour les trucs en flash aussi...

Sauf erreur de ma part, tu n'as que 2 Go de mémoire, donc, je ne suis pas certain que la version 64 bits soit intéressante. Si tu avais au moins 4 Go, ça le serait.
Il n'y a que LibreOffice qui pose ce type de problème. Sinon, tu peux lancer une série de 3 passes de memtest au démarrage de ta machine, histoire de savoir si ta barrette de mémoire n'est pas défectueuse. Attention, ça va être long.
EDIT : question par curiosité (oui, encore une ! ) : quelle taille prenait le premier fichier ? Et le second ?

Memtest86+ peut être exécuté lors du démarrage dans GRUB (le menu de démarrage, qui peut être obtenu en maintenant enfoncé la touche majuscules).

Mettre de la mémoire (et compatible avec la carte mère) sur un laptop est faisable, mais ça peut être un casse-tête pour l'installer.
