[Résolu] Création d'une partition swap : nécessaire ou inutile ?

Bonjour,

Je viens d'installer Trusty à côté de Windows 8.1 sur mon Vaio (4 Go de RAM). Lors de cette installation je n'ai pas réussi à créer de partition swap. Sur la docil est déconseillé de créer cette partition après installation du système. Mais c'est peut-être un conseil pour une ancienne version, donc obsolète ? Je ne sais pas si j'en ai/aurai besoin, et si c'est toujours risqué ou pas.

Merci pour vos conseils.

Ah on voit pas le détail car t'es en GPT.

alors donne le résultat de :

swapon -s

En faite si je te demande ça c'est que normalement tu as une partition swap, en tout cas si tu utilises les options par défaut (partitionnement automatique) tu en a une mais peut être que tu as tenté un partitionnement manuel et tu n'en a pas mis volontairement ?

si tu créer toi même les partitions, il faut toujours faire 3 partitions minimum (en tout cas fortement conseillé) :

une racine de 15 Go
un home de la taille que tu souhaites
un swap de quelques go.

Si tu fais un partitionnement automatique (ce que font 95% des débutants), par défaut il te mettra une racine et un swap mais le home ne sera pas séparé.

Cette commande ne renvoie rien... (j'ai essayé avec les options asv aussi).

En fait, le Windows n'a pas été détecté (apparemment c'est un problème connu). Donc j'ai créé une nouvelle partition, j'avais le choix entre primaire et logique. J'ai testé les deux cas, et swap était toujours grisé (je ne pouvais pas le sélectionner). Donc j'ai continué mon installation en mettant Ubuntu sur la seule partition disponible. C'est peut-être une erreur mais je n'avais pas trop le choix.

Ce n'est pas normale ça !

Au moment ou tu partitionnes, tu dois pouvoir sélectionner "espace d'échange swap" comme le montre cette image :

edit : a mon avis tu t'y ai mal pris, tu as pas du laisser d'espace pour d'autres partitions ou alors tu as dépassé la limite du nombre de partition mais il y a quelque chose que tu as mal fait c'est sûr.
Lance le logicel "gparted" (si il n'est pas installé, installe le) et fais une capture d'écran de l'écran là ou on vois tout ton partitionnement

J'ai fait une mise à jour depuis 13.10 (install lancée depuis le live cd). Je n'ai pas eu cet écran, du moins pas sous cette forme, là c'est clair que j'aurai créé le swap smile

Ah mais attend, si tu fais une mise a jour niveau depuis la 13.10, il va te garder le même partionnement donc forcément il va pas te proposer cet écran, il fallait en faite créer ton swap dès le début (au moment ou tu as installé la 13.10). SI c'est pour corriger ton erreur le problème c'est que tu n'a peut être plus d'espace sur ton disque dur si toutes les partitions utilise le disque, vérifie avec le logiciel "gparted" et fais moi une capture d'écran de l'afficage des partitions de ton disque dur pour voir ta situation, sache que tu peux créer un swap depuis gparted.
( si il n'est pas installé : sudo apt-get install gparted )

Gparted

J'ai mis en subrillance ma partition Ubuntu. Je peux peut-être la réduire pour créer le swap ? Je crains de toucher au reste, et de casser le Windows (je l'ai déjà réinstallé 3 fois en un mois...)

(je file ma femme m'engueule, merci pour le coup de main, suite demain)

A mon avis tu peux pas créer de swap car tu as dépassé la limite du nombre de partition vu le nombre actuel.
De plus là tu n'a plus d'espace libre pour créer une nouvelle partition (ce qui signifie qu'il faut redimensionner une partition existente pour gagner de l'espace libre).

Mais c'est le bordel sur ton disque dur, tu te rend compte tu as déjà 5 partitions de moins de 2 Giga chacune sur ton disques dur !

- Le recovery a la fin du disque c'est une partition de sauvegarde de windows qui était déjà là a l'achat du pc, si tu l'utilise pas tu peux la supprimer
- La partition sonysys en fat32 te sert a quoi ?
- La partition Windows tools tu l'utilise vraiment ?

Bref ton partionnement ne va pas du tout. Je serai a ta place, je supprimerai tout absolument tout et je commencerai a zéro en installant ton windows puis linux avec mon propre partionnement.

Et pour linux tu fais bien 3 partitions :

une racine : /
un home : /home
un espace d'échange swap

Après peut être que tu as peur de toucher a tes partitions car tu es débutant mais dans ce cas là dans tout les cas tu dois gagner de l'espace pour une partition afin de créer un swap et si en redimensionnant une partition tu ne peux toujours pas créer de swap sur l'espace libre c'est que tu as dépassé le nombre limite de partition.

Ce n'est pas "mon" bordel, le pc est vendu en l'état. J'ai juste réduit celle de Windows pour y placer Ubuntu, je n'ai rien fait de plus. Je ne peux pas tout supprimer puisque je n'ai pas de cd de Windows : si je dois réinstaller, cela se fait depuis une de ces partitions. Si je les vire, je suis coincé.

Ce que je voulais faire, c'est réduire celle d'Ubuntu (200 Go c'est inutile), et créer un swap dans l'espace récupéré.

Motif : la procédure "normale" (ici) pour Boot-Info ne fonctionne pas pour Trusty actuellement

*comme indiqué, tu peux opérer depuis une session de ton Ubuntu 14.04 installé sur disque dur

Bonjour,

2 remarques:

  1. Le nombre de partitions maximum d'une table de partitions GPT est de 128, je pense que le problème vient de ce que lors de la création de la partition root de Ubuntu aucun espace disponible n'avait été conservé pour créer des partitions supplémentaires dont la swap. Comme le fait remarquer Jarrodd la table de partitions actuelle n'est pas son bordel, les petites partitions sont des partitions techniques utilisées par Windows.

  2. Si tu veux vraiment utiliser une swap tu peux le faire assez simplement en créant un fichier swap dans la partition ubuntu et l'activer au démarrage de Ubuntu.
    Pour créer et activer un fichier swap de 2GB:

    cd /
sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=swap.disk count=2 bs=1G
sudo mkswap /swap.disk

    modifier /etc/fstab en ajoutant cette ligne:

    /swap.disk   none   swap   loop   0 0

    et enfin activer le swap avec

    sudo swapon -a

    Contrôle activation après redémarrage système:

    frankenstein@frankenstein:~$ swapon -s

    Ceci permet de créer un swap sans prendre le risque de manipuler la table de partitions

Le boot-info est nécessaire afin de vérifier si l'installation de Ubuntu à côté de Windows est correcte, tu ne nous dis pas si Windows 8 est démarrable

@jamebad000, un / s'est perdu, si tu veux. Ajouter / est plus sûr, mais l'ordre précédant la commande dd est un "cd /", donc c'est bien le fichier /swap.disk qui est créé.
Je laisse le soin de commenter le boot-info à Malbo, à priori il existe un doublon de partitions, /dev/sda1 semble être une partition efi comme /dev/sda3 bien qu'elle ne soit pas marquée EFI.
C'est étrange...

Prudence est mère de sûreté. Mais redondance nuit à la clarté. Donc autant pour moi, il ne manque rien !

Je voudrais faire un swap de 4 Go plutôt, comment adapter cette ligne :

sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=swap.disk count=2 bs=1G

Est-ce qu'il suffit de faire count=4 ? J'ai consulté la doc sur dd mais c'est très abscons pour moi... Je préfère donc vous demander avant.

Penser à mettre swap.disk sous la racine /, donc le nom complet du fichier sera /swap.disk.
Je me demande si je n'ai pas été trop subtile dans mon exemple avec mon "cd /".

J'ai créé le fichier swap, après reboot il est bien à la racine.

Le boot-info, c'était juste pour votre info, ou je dois faire une autre modif quelque part ? Je démarre bien sous Windows 8 (j'ai le choix au démarrage du pc).
